  1. There's quite a few threads within the gen 2 IS section of the forum about which battery. Bosch always comes out favourite. 4 years seems too soon for a battery to go for a dump. Is your alternator working properly? Does your car have a parasitic power drain which you're unaware of? I'd get the alternator tested. Mine went on me about a year and a half ago and through desperation took it to Lexus to sort. £800 later my car runs as it should. Yes I paid a lot but I did get a loan car for 3 days at no cost because I went away for a few days.
  2. I moved from Ford to Lexus. From a 1.6 diesel Focus to a lovely is300h premier premium. Unfortunately I couldn't get to grips with the CVT so after 5 weeks I went back to Ford. A Mondeo titanium x sport ecoboost. After about 18 months I went back to an identical is300h but OMG how different the two 300h's were. The first was awful yet the second outstanding. After a year or so I swapped for the F-sport RX450H. Needed extra interior space etc. Because of financial difficulties it had to go so I went back to Ford. A Mondeo titanium x sport 2.2 diesel auto. Fabulous ford's I had but after a year or so I had a hankering to go back to Lexus. I'd always loved the look of the gen 2 IS and I found the car I've had now over three years. So over a good number of years I've pogo'd between Lexus and Ford. Once you've had the best you'll Always go back to it 😁 Oh I've never bought new and never will.
  3. WOW Jeff. I certainly didn't pay anywhere near that price. Petrol stations and motorway service stations are selling night driving glasses. I've never spent more than £15 on them in the decades I've been using them. Each to their own though.
  4. Sorry Lex. That's a poor quality screen shot. I can't make any of it out.
  5. Dya know what Eric. I think it's about time you left this Lexus forum. Yes you owned a Lexus car but now you don't. So what you're a scientist. Not all scientists are good at what they do. You are slagging off members on this forum with a personal hatred of them. Leave this forum and go spread your poison on a subaru forum. You obviously read other members posts with blinkered vision and totally miss the points those members make. I don't know you but one thing I do know. I really don't like you. To me you are a troll. A phoney. A wind up merchant. I'm going to make an official complaint about you. Just so you know.
  6. Renato I have reading glasses only. My distance vision is very good. Yes it's the reduced glare and the yellow tinge that makes things look clearer and makes vision more comfortable. There are two types of night time driving glasses. Polarised and plain. I've had both. I prefer none polarised because I can see my dash and radio and satnav screens clearly.
  7. Sorry but I can't provide a name or model of my glasses. The only markings are 7254 CE UK cat 1 Bought them from Abington service station 40 miles from Edinburgh but on sale nationwide.
  8. Sorry Linas I have to disagree with you regarding how used tyres fit the rim etc. In the 80's and 90's part worn tyres were the only ones I bought. Yes premium brands and never below 6mm tread. I never had issues with tyre pressure loss because of poor rim fit. The tyres were like new and the cars they went on were the sports variants and back then I drove like I stole it, oh happy days. Back then part worns were less than half the price of brand new. Nowadays I'd hazard a guess they're 60-75% the price of brand new. I've been buying brand new since the noughties. Excellent, is it, synopsis regarding getting what you pay for re the actual tread depth that's usable.
  9. Reading articles that give negative reviews are basically a joke and probably paid by whomever. Example. How many positive reviews of Lexus cars have you read? By positive I mean not a single negative word within that review? I bet the answer is none. But however you know your Lexus car is superb. I'm a professional driver who now starts at midnight and at around 2am I'm on the road. I've worn night time driving glasses for decades and as a professional driver I swear by them. Not only do they reduce glare but they make things look clearer and make viewing oh so much easier. No straining or tired eyes but the feeling of comfort. Yes there are glasses that cost a hundred quid and there are those at a tenner. My last pair cost £15 from a motorway service station. Ruddy excellent they are. No they don't go over normal glasses as I don't need those sorts. Don't read reviews from magazines or t'internet. Word of mouth is the absolute best review. Happy Friday.
  10. I'm sure that mini was at the Pride of Longbridge show last weekend. Ruddy stunning looking car.
  11. wow Linas you have surprised me that the black electrical part of the pump is a swine to take off. I've seen videos where that part on other ABS units come off relatively easily But care has to be taken because of plunger type looking things that fit into a type of cylinder. But hey ho the ones fitted to our is250's look like to be disposable types. Stupid. Probably that's why whole units are for sale and not just one half or the other. Much appreciated you posted what you did 👍
  12. Funnily I watched a fabulous YouTube video earlier today about the demise of the Longbridge site. All that remains now is the front gates and entrance where the sign for Conference Centre. It only has MG signs since the shortlived chinese investments. Lots of owners still make a pilgrimage just to get a photo of their car in front of what still stands. I was amazed just how huge the site was and just how much of it has became a shopping centre and housing estate. Since you're in Somerset I'm not sure how far you are from Gaydon as there is a yearly or bi-yearly Rover MG get together.
  13. lol Bill. Longbridge factory was/is still in Birmingham.
  14. Just want to correct something. Once you've done the health check scan and you want to clear the codes. The logo that looks like a motorbike engine is on the bottom right not left as I stated above. It's on the left once an individual scan has been done.
  15. Absolutely Bernard I place Lexus in the same league as Bentley and Rolls Royce. I think you're mistaking luxury and 'toys/tech' in cars. It's the tech etc that customers want. Luxury cars are out of reach financially speaking to the average person. Me? I'm average and no way can afford a new Lexus. My car history is that 95% of my cars have been top of the range. The luxury versions. I've never bought new but cars over 5 years old with the exception of just one car. A 6 month old MG Maestro an F plate. As for Lexus selling like hot cakes elsewhere. That's easy coz over there the choice is greater because the customer base is HUGE compared to this out small island.
  16. Lost touch with this thread but the answer to the question why Lexus hasn't hit the mainstream. When the Lexus brand was first thought of its idea was to be the ultimate luxury car. Marques like Rolls Royce and Bentley ate Not mainstream cars. They never will be. Lexus is in the same marque as the two mentioned above. Lexus will never be mainstream because they are a Luxury brand. Luxury is Not mainstream.
  17. Some may consider you yourself have been brainwashed. Your previous three posts I found oh so funny. I thought I was reading the funny stories from Geoff buys Cars lol. I admire your passion in your beliefs. I have my own thoughts not to dissimilar to yours.
  18. Hi Lex. Let me understand you right. You now have a copy of techstream? You mentioned an electrical smell. Possibly an alternator at fault. Recommend you get it tested. A suggestion for you. The multiplug on the ABS unit. Disconnect it. See if it's clean where the pins are and that the plug is clean. I personally found water in mine and I've since had a replacement ABS unit. Read my post ABS Pump and its ECU. To clear codes with techstream. First do a Health Check. One of the buttons on the left of the screen. This will take a while and it will show All fault codes if there are any. Once completed you should see on the bottom left of the screen what looks like a motorbike engine. Click on that. A prompt will come up. Follow the prompt and then the codes will be cleared.
  19. https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/abspumpspecialist?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=5sAh-GRrRLq&sssrc=3418065&ssuid=WKLhtmKvT-C&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY Try this company Linas. Its where I got mine from. Great news about the code gone 👍
  20. Excellent video Mike. A good honest accurate review 👍
  21. Gang. I've not converted my car. The statement I made was futuristic not present.
  22. Did anyone go today? I did and it was ruddy wonderful. Yes Longridge. Home to where Rover cars were once built. And today at Crofton Park opposite the factory where they were built was a superb collection of the cars built there all those years ago. Yes my car history started with an Austin Metro 1.3s. What a car that was. The first of many Rover and MG cars I had over about 20-22 years. It was great to see so many well cared for and restored cars. The camaraderie of the 'fans' was just brilliant. I lost count how many chats I had with owners and visitors. No one car stood out but to see an Austin Morris Ital 1.7 HL out there was a miracle. Yes I've had one of those lol. The V8 MG ZT's with superchargers were just jaw dropping andcthe sound? OMG awesome. So, did anyone go?
  23. To be fair. BEV's will be with us for a good while yet. Those with BEV's I do have sympathy for because they're gonna get peanuts for them if they want to sell them or part-ex them. I'm hoping and looking forward to a hydrogen infrastructure that will wipe the floor with the charging systems out there at present. I love my petrol powered 2.5l V6 and the sound it makes at all rev ranges. Oh that sound. Even after conversion to hydrogen I'll still have that sound. Yippeeee.
