About a year (as usual) great fun on track, engine rebuilds are a fact of life but an opportunity to upgrade power.
Sorry for the thread hijack Cactus but when I start on about some of the cars I've owned there's no stopping me.
Cool, may have to get a bit of advice from you in the future if i find a nice 1

Thanks, loved the RX7 it went like a rocket 385 bhp on twin turbos not a single. The Mini is the colour of old police cars.
Yea now you mention it,it reminds me of the cars on heartbeat.
Rx7 looks clean i want one even more now,how long did you have it?

It's worth every penny of that cost, although mine is installed in my Mini Clubvan I have to say it has been faultless, as you say it's so comprehensive with regards to setting etc. If it is ever available for the RCF it would be essential for pre AVS cars
Definitely, was a bit sceptical at first as tein havnt got the best record but after a lot of reseach and finding a few ISFs in japan fitted with the same i read their experience and finally bit the bullet.
Any pix of the mini
always loved them.

What's it all about?

It was 2.5k all in fitted @ Fensport.

What im saying is the available options have been tested and proven gains plus durability like cracking occurring i definitely wouldn't be spending a small fortune on Guinea pig parts especially after the sikky headers had a lot of cracking issues on the ISF. Id be very doubtfull an independent fabricator would be able to do a perfect job first time around and one thats going to last, would you put your money were your mouth is? Personally i think its a bad idea i like to see proven results and durability before i spend, just my opinion of course 👍

@Northern isf Hi. Thanks for your input 🙂 Was your Tein set up with EDFC II or did you go for active or active pro? I am trying to get my head around what the differences between them are. Have you had any issues since you have fitted them?
barry
Hey Barry
I went for the edfc 2 active pro with gps,you get A LOT more adjustment on this setup ive still not mastered everything without looking in the manual,it'd take me probably an hour to type the features up but thats mainly because I'm using an Xbox to type at the mo(computer issues) i love everything about it the gps function is pretty trick it maps out your chosen settings on your favourite routes and dials them in as you enter each diffrent section. On the softest setting it glides like a Rolls Royce but the more dialled in you go it becomes sharp and precise once youve worked the settings out obviously.

Not a fan of soft tops... if it were hard top like the SC430 times, would be more my thing, the concept wheels have disappeared 😞, hope they become an option!
Got to agree, there's very few cars that soft tops suit always looks like an after thought.

Blue looks better

Got PPE on mine make a great noise,to be honest the cost of getting a set fab'd up plus the fact there not going to be road tested either would put me off, theres no guarantee they'll give performance gains its a lot to shell out for,be good if you could get the dimensions from a set to make up

although the KW V3 are extremely good dampers they come with very low spring rates (11/8 kg I believe) and as the fronts are conical springs extremely hard to get alternatives, my assumption that they are so low would be that they are not specific to the ISF bat cater for the full IS family, if you are looking to retain stock ride height the spring rates are not ideal, although not the end of the world you will loose a but of that dynamic feel,
If you are however planning to to reduce the ride height remember this will change the roll centres and will need to be stiffer sprung, a minimal drop you in my opinion need a 14/10 setup, bigger drops a 16/12 setup (I run a 16/12 setup)
If you do go down the coilover route, whichever brand you go for make sure you have them professionally setup on corner weights as they generally come with only enough preload to stop the spring coming loose during shipping, the whole point of being able to adjust the preload and to a certain extent the height is that you can match the weight on each corner as close as possible, when you see people slating coilovers of any brand this is generally because they have not had them setup correctly.
Some great advice there.

You should have a look at the Tein EDFC coilover system I believe a member here has done it. I've fitted it to my hot Mini Clubvan and it is night and day ride wise.
That'll be,definitely the best mod ive done super smooth for cruising and in an instant changed for spirited driving.

Love that alpine especially in the shade it is suprised you preferred it to the Esprit. Good review too as a lot of outdoor covers mark paint eventually especially on door mirrors, I've bought mine blind but it's for indoor use were theirs no wind so I'm not expecting that.

It really isn't that good in my opinion, the other thing going for the later TomTom's is the fact they have a very good speed camera alerting system that's as good as the Road Angel products."
"Navy" got to love auto spell! The standard ISF nav has made some unforgettable memories for me though I once put an address in to pick a car up from a farm on the outskirts of Birmingham and ended up at a very sketchy block of flats with the exact same name as the farm house, car quickly got surrounded by the occupants of said flats who actually turned out to be pretty helpful luckily!

Ive been InTouch👍

Nice review! Is the navy as bad as the isf? Thought they'd have sorted it out.

Two and a half years in, nothing gone wrong other than the water pump gasket which was right in schedule at 58k
Exactly the same here only thing to go on mine oh and a rear shock absorber plus a good helping of human error i.e. Battery terminals that caused nurofen and Johnnie Walkers bank accounts to rapidly expand!
Best motor I've ever owned for an all rounder enjoy.

Its not as harsh as certain reviews made out some went way over the top,its definitely livable but you won't regret an upgrade either.
