I personally wouldn’t want a Lexus stamp, I’m always dubious and the first thing I do is put it into my Indy and let them go through the lot (blank cheque)......had a fair few issues that weren’t done over two of my four Lexus cars owned, I’d happily let u work on my Lexus 👍🏻

i had an incident were one of there employees backed my car into something and left a small mark, they didnt inform me either i found out after i found an incident report sheet showing the place were it was damaged ill post a pic up of the sheet up tomorrow i didn't bother with it as i mopped it out didnt really want anyone else doing my bodywork other than myself.

Yes I am saying it's 'fair'. Although not sure it is as much as you suggest. It's an offer of business that you can choose to take or not. Understanding that you are paying for all the extra staff a dealership has over an indy, the expensive shop frontage and expensive large plots of land with high rate-able values, then VAT etc, business insurance, public liability, pandemics :nugget:. So £100+ of it is TAX! How much of the £600 is pure profit after business running costs? I know if I build an engine for someone, the govt receives nearly as much in tax as I make in profit. Then they tax my profit. I'd be surprised if Lexus make much more than 10% net profit. It's a volume business making % on millions and a bonus structure from Toyota for sales. Whereas an independent is a small volume low costs, so better margins, business. IMHO.

I suppose we could agree that "Labour" is a very poor term to use, it seems to indicate the labour for working on the car, whereas it really means, the labour of running the whole business premises.

Ok good to know next time ive got the ''deal of a lifetime'' for sale at my shop ill be sure to let you know if your that easily relieved of your capital, hell you even talked yourself into it above!

Yes. The tools, the mechanic and the knowledge, insurance and building should be free. emoji23.png

So your saying at least a £400 mark up is fair? that service would take myself or any competent home mechanic all of two/three hours the only reason i use Lexus is to keep the book stamped up if i decide to sell.

I know i could buy those parts and get my local indy and pay them £40 per hour so why should Lexus charge so much that's the point i'm making.

  4. Just done a little bit of research, it does seem that quite a few people have done this in the US but also quite a few have not and they have relatively high miles with no issues.

What i've read is its down to how hard you drive your car as overtime a high gearbox temp can break the fluid down apparently, not sure if that will apply so much over here with our nice cool weather though.

Just doing some digging. It seems service prices are the same across most dealers. £625 online and also when ringing. I guess this is oil, filter, brake fluid and a pollen filter.

Any ideas on how to get this lower ? I'm aware Gold membership can get a discount,is there a way of confirming what dealers are part of this scheme ?

    cheers

(seems very quiet on here since Ratty left :wink3:)

Seems very expensive considering you could probably get the parts for less than £200.

  6. Little update on the m3 swap the engines been fully rebuilt along with forged pistons arp headbolts and full vanos overhaul, cars currrently getting this fitted along with a 6 speed box and brand new motorsport lsd with 3.45 ratio, im also getting every component which will go underneath the car either refreshed and powder coated or replaced.

Then it will be back to my workshop were im going to give it a respray in the original dakar yellow as its quite faded in places and its got the usual bmw factory orange peel paint job which i hate, should all be done by end of august i did intend on it being ready a month ago but the engine rebuild place shut down due to the current situation, anyway a few pics if anyones interested.

Nah, you can't see the spoiler at all from my seating position.

It pretty much follows the roofline whereas in my old Integras, the spoiler was right through the middle of the rear windscreen.

Cool, have you any plans for it or keeping stock although it sounds as though its good enough as is.

love the colour by the way got to be the best shade for these saying that every type r looks good in white and then there's the nsx id absolutely love one but there a bit overpriced now.

    - Engine - It looks like a lawnmower (as in the actual engine).  Did I mention lack of noise?  It sounds like one as well

I had a honda lawnmower for about 15 years ran without fault so you should be good to go 😉

nice review ive seen a few about about the styling is starting to be a little easier on my eyes, one thing i noticed when i was behind one was the spoiler does it affect your view at all?

I remember that well too, I just fitted a new battery into mine and kept saying “check the terminals, check the terminals”.....must of checked about half a dozen times, I also marked the battery with a marker pen to make sure 😂

haha yes I defo learnt my lesson ive never changed as many fuses in my life think the count was around 47ish so now I check the terminals as much as I first checked out a "gentlemans mag"  I found when I was young'un many many years ago!
