  1. Small update. These alloys were heavily corroded on the LS when I picked her up and the team at Rimtech in Bredbury, Stockport sorted all 5 (yes, the full size spare too!) in a shinier silver than stock. Looking to get some black centre caps like the ones on the ISF and clean her nuts. Also messaged Grom Audio regarding a couple of pretty significant limiting issues with the Vline 2 on the vehicle. Hope it's user error and not a dodgy unit. Let's see what they reply back with.
  2. Thanks cruisermark - This will be the fall back option when I inevitably give up on the DIY.......Destroy It Yourself
  3. Very good idea. Spent the last few nights on that rabbit hole - weirdly no videos on tinting the ls600hl with power door blinds either (short term fix). My thought process was "Surely there must be a video on YouTube covering this", or even "how to dismantle the rear door AND blind" so i can take the components apart, but there was nothing at all - which surprised me. That being said, given the number of these vehicles sold worldwide and the Lexus famed over engineered components - should it have been such a surprise? This issue may be the exception rather than the rule.
  4. So, enjoying my ownership of the LS600hl and my power door blinds seem to have a little issue. The mesh is missing almost as though it had been cut....any ideas on who can affordably repair this (don't say lexus please!) Photos for illustration and humour purposes.... If anyone has an instruction guide to how this is assembled even better, I can try DIY!
  5. Okay. Had a play with this earlier and the call quality is almost as good as the factory Bluetooth if not the same. Feedback from the wife was that the microphone was not as good, possibly down to placement near the rear view mirror. I connected my phone via USB and immediately the Grom unit connected to android auto and showed me Waze, google maps and amazon music. The steering controls work seamlessly with the music tracks and i'm impressed by the resolution on the screen. Still need to find an ideal spot for the Grom unit to go....but its okay for the price, not amazing, just okay. Caller id is on screen when the phone rings. Also remember to not pair the phone with the factory Lexus unit - deleting the profile works, otherwise you will have phone calls coming through the Lexus unit and streaming via the Grom - although it doesn't make too much of a difference.
  6. Good question. just installed it and looking for a place (not under the front passenger floormat) to put it. A little surprised there is no direct access to Google Play out of the box and it would appear that apps such as waze or amazon music need to be side loaded. ill do a separate post on this for the forum members and let you know how i get on as Ive not tried the calling piece yet (not hooked up the aftermarket mic).
  7. Hi Steve, they are in very good condition! I have a set a little larger (19") and those are on an ls600, but aware they did an 18" option for the 460. A bit jealous of the condition of yours! Nice acquisition.... Oh no ignore me you have 5 spokes, which would indicate the 250c! As for the staggered setup it works very well on the is250 too, you do feel a difference.
  8. Scythe are you a detective? 🕵️‍♂️ Very thorough work! Thank you ! Quick update on her, She's being fitted with the Grom audio unit to provide updated nav and full Bluetooth audio capability, new window tints for privacy and to stop people looking in through the window - I'm amazed by the amount of attention this car has had whilst parked up, as it's rather subdued in presence and the finger prints on the glass! Then a wheel refurb as they are looking a little corroded....will keep you posted! Ps my 250 is now sold to another forum member.
  9. Great camera angle there! Unfortunately it's just the 12v adapter however there is also disk/aux on the radio...which is puzzling...looking at the other lexus owner forums this has come up a few times with some exceptions for the 2008 M/Y and various speculations as to why! I may need to investigate behind the console and radio...
  10. Good point and speaking of grey leather. I'm about to list my IS 250 SE-L (86k, 55plate, red mica with grey leather) for sale, if anyone is interested it will be on the car listing page in the morning......Can't keep three Lexi plus the rest of the fleet....wife will kill me or divorce me and this way is the easiest or least hassle option!
  11. £10k all in and felt like I had stolen it when I drove it away. T'was right interior colour scheme for me but I finally wrong exterior colour (wanted black!). I'm suprised by how much silver is growing on me! Thank you for making the forum so much of a community, the commeradery here makes the purchase so much more worthwhile! 👏👏👏
  12. Wow that is quite some taxi ! 😂😂 P.Plate going on once plates are made up and DVLA aware. Needs a good scrub inside first. Also I just noticed it's missing it's aux socket in the front centre console.🤯🤯?? Any ideas as to where it could be hiding?
  13. Hi Royoftherovers, Purchased the vehicle from a chap called Mark (MK cars & Bikes) a small family outfit, who took it as a P/X. The number plates have 'BCA' on them, so I'm sure at some point it was at auction....or a lexus main dealer could have moved it on that way...we shall see! Looking forward to a full sized barge to waft myself and the family along! Bar some significant wheel corrosion and the passenger window blind, it looks in good order. Control arm bushings look as though they have been replaced...although no record of it....and a good service history at Lexus, although not complete... Will drop photos of the silver beauty as soon as she's cleaned up! Good eve,
  14. Hello fellow Lsers, Picking up my LS600hL tomorrow and wanted to say hello to the group prior. If anyone knows anything about the car it's GU57 VEL. One thing that did bother me, which propted the price reduction, is a problem with the rear driver side blind, where the blind frame goes up....without the mesh!! (rear quarter works fine) - hoping this can be repaired rather than replaced. If anyone has any ideas or encountered a similar issue do let me know. Best, Ian
  15. Its not you or the 220d...its the VLAND units! I took the plunge and had the same outcome for my 250. Not got round to fitting them on the F yet (more on that soon!) Issue is that turning the sidelights on, only appears to turn on your rear lights, and this is the setting from the factory. hacking the wiring appears to be the only way to resolve it.
  16. Hey! Most of it was trial and error, or a Google trawl. Ordered some headlights and tail lights from a Vland seller, so when I wire them up, I'll do both as I still need to route the rear aftermarket camera into the hole where the stock one is! Give me a couple of weeks, headlights are on backorder from china....apparantly...
  17. I did Wayne! If you've replaced the touch panel on the screen before then this mod isnt much more difficult...it just takes time to iron out the kinks once setup. You also have to be incredibly careful not to damage the dash (it's surprisingly fragile surrounding the screen and the vents. Luckily my test car was the 250 when the touch screen became non responsive, but that being said I have a great way to repair a damaged dash almost seamlessly ...I'll add a post on that too!
  18. It is a little, but it isn't without its challenges! I may do a review soon but now I can control my audio streaming, have decent DAB and full AC options. There were issues with camera and ML amp compatibility not to mention buggy software and long (20sec) boot times if the car is off for more than 10hours, but it's better than what was there and meets my needs when hotspotted to my phone! You can even stream Netflix and prime video (wouldn't reccomend whilst driving)!
  19. I'm sure just by looking at the two you can see what is pricey carbon and what is carbon wrap...also get the full bit under the centre console done. On my ISF it looks a little incomplete. Also don't remind me about the 'Tesla style' screen...deffo not plug and play!
  20. Quite possibly...in fairness it was only £120! I'll try and get some photos up, so you can see what I mean. Think the guy on the 250 said he used 4d vinyl on it...?
  21. I can also vouch for Elvin's work. If you are near Manchester this week, happy to show you the quality, albeit on an ISF. Also had my other IS done in CF vinyl and it really doesn't look great over time, again I can show you. Will be removing it for a solid colour (piano black vinyl instead!)
  22. ....a few photos of the day, so far! More than 500 cars booked including a few choice Lexi and the LFA. Good to meet another fellow forum member!
  23. It shouldn't be. You can call the organisers (Paul and Helen) on Paul: 07846 586 436 or Helen on 07886 180 042 I'm definitely there as confirmation came through, but that was around the time posted the event. Definitely give them a call and see how you get on, say we are part of an ultra rare car collective (which we are!) and you should still be able to get in.
