  1. I have 2012 GS and found the GS version of this gadget but they don't offer shipping and I couldn't find the Lexus GS version on Amazon. I will message them to see what they can do about shipping.
  2. Thanks for the info and the links. For some reason it is saying they can't deliver to my address (UK)!
  3. I couldn't find it in AliExpress so if you send us the link it will be great!
  4. It's probably worth me updating the thread... I actually bought the car (almost 2 months ago) and it is perfectly fine. As Kijan suggested, the picture was taken while the car was not in "Ready". It has passed it's battery health check since I bought it so I'll have a peace of mind for another year.
  5. My thinking was exactly the same so I chose the Premier and don't regret it at all. I rarely put the S+ because the suspension becomes a little too stiff for me. Although the change in damping from Normal to S+ mode is not significant, it is enough for me to notice the difference.
  6. Is it possible that people like being part of a great community and use every opportunity to ask questions just so they can interact more with likeminded people?
  7. I think this comment is spot on. I was quite naive when I was buying my IS250 (100k miles on the clock) so I bought one with minimal service history and visibly poorly maintained. Despite of this, I drove the car for 4 years (30k miles) and nothing ever went wrong with it! I changed the oil 5 times so roughly 6k between changes. The car was burning some oils and not others - really weird. The last oil was Shell Helix (I believe) and didn't burn at all!
  8. The front brakes are likely to cost in the £600 region or more. F-Sport and Premier trim cars have two-piece front rotors which cost more than twice the "standard" rotors. It will be great if they can stick to their original quote and only charge you £325. Let me know how much they actually quote you for the brakes as I will likely face the same bill down the road.
  9. I just did 100k miles service for GS450h. I also thought that it will include inverter coolant but it didn't. The paperwork they gave me said that for cars after 2009 the inverter coolant is done at 150k miles. I guess it will be the same for the IS.
  10. Some pics as promised... I spotted some stone chips/parking damage on the driver's door (last 2 pics). What are my options to get these repaired? I would prefer NOT to do anything myself as I don't want to mess up with the paint.
  11. I booked my car for a service next Wednesday and will have a courtesy car for the day so I'll have a chance to compare it's build quality to the GS. I'm not sure what they will give me though...
  12. I know what you mean. I bought 450h and I'm extremely happy with it but for 95% of the time 300h does the same job but costs you much less to run.
  13. I was sceptic about the sat nav and the infotainment system in general (again, all reviewers hate it) but I actually enjoy using it. I will upload pics as soon as I find some time to wash the car. Hopefully this weekend.
  14. So after few months of research and countless hours watching every single YouTube video about GS450h, I went ahead and bought a 2012 GS450h Premier with 95k miles on the clock. The car has full Lexus service history, although the last one a little overdue - done 16 months ago. The key differences to my previous IS250 after around a week of driving are (in order of importance for me): - The ride - much more comfortable than the IS. I am enjoying every moment being in the GS. The IS felt better when cornering at speed, thanks to it’s much harder ride, but for the remaining 99% of my use the GS is miles better. I am happy I chose the Premier over the F Sport - the ride is that little bit smoother, which I prefer. - The seats - gone are the days of my back being sore after 30 mins drive. I fell like I can drive the GS forever and not get any aches. The 18-way adjustable seat is nice to have but I feel like having too many options to adjusts makes me always fiddling with it and never happy enough with a single position of the seat. - Interior space - I no longer have to move my seat forward if I need to drive with someone at the back seat. - Quality after 10 years of use - it still looks and feels like a new car inside. The quality of the materials in unbelievable - The eCVT - I thought I will be annoyed by the eCVT initially and that I will need time to adjust to it (because all the bad reviews from auto reviewers). In reality, I loved it from the first second and I think it fits the car perfectly - it adds to the luxurious feel. And I can cruise with 70mph with 1200rpm which I love. I was thinking a lot if I should go for F Sport or Premier and I don't regret my decision to go for Premier at all. The smoother ride and stuff like power boot lid was higher priority than the looks. I initially planned to service the car at independent mechanic. I don’t think keep paying premium rates for Lexus servicing adds any value to a 10-year old 100k miles car. With this thought in mind, I just did the hybrid health check for £59 last week. A week later I changed my mind and decided that I prefer the 100k miles service to be completed by Lexus, just for peace of mind. The car is still 9.5 years and under 100k so technically this service will add 6 month/5k miles warranty, which is welcome. When booking the service I decided to test my luck and asked the advisor if they are willing to make me a small discount given that I completed the hybrid check a week ago. At the end they made me a £40 discount, which is very nice gesture that they didn’t have to make at all!
  15. I will see the car tomorrow and will check how the screen looks just before and after the car is started.
  16. Hi, I'm looking at a 2012 GS450h on Autotrader. The car seems to be good (I haven't actually seen it) but there is something potentially worrying from the pictures - the hybrid battery seem to be very close to minimum. This is possibly caused by the car sitting unused for a while (the car has done only 300ish mile since November). From what I've researched until now the normal range of the battery charge is somewhere between 2-8 bars. So the question is: Is this an issue? I know it's impossible to say 100% without testing the battery but getting an opinion is a good start. This is the ad: https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202112060279397?sort=relevance&onesearchad=New&onesearchad=Nearly New&onesearchad=Used&make=Lexus&advertising-location=at_cars&radius=1500&postcode=ls134sf&year-from=2012&model=GS 450h&include-delivery-option=on&page=2&percentVehiclePriceDeposit=true
  17. That's true. The feeling of the torque from a standard transmission is deceptive. My dad drives E Class 220d (manual) and it feels as fast as my IS250 despite the 0-60 being around 10.5s. But again, my main issue with the 300h is the price, which is the pretty much same as 450h. I would happily go for 300h if it was 25% cheaper than a comparable 450h.
  18. I thought about mk3 GS450h but there were two pretty major factors that put me off: 1. I don't particularly like the some details in the interior (the dials being one of them). If I had to choose between 2009 GS or 2009 IS, I would choose the IS (and I own one already); 2. The boot space is not enough for me. So yes, I prefer to pay much more for a car that feels and looks much better in my eyes.
  19. I'm pretty sure that I will go for 450h. Jost not sure if I want to get 10 year older 😁
  20. Recently, I decided it is time to replace my 2005 IS250. I've been looking on Autotrader for the last few weeks and decided my next car will be GS mk4 - either 300h or 450h. I am not considering the GS250 only because I want to try a hybrid. So today I went for a test drive - I drove a GS 300h F-Sport. My initial worry was that, being a F-Sport, the ride will be too stiff at the expense of smoothness. Well, my assumption turned out to be wrong... kind of. The F-Sport ride - firm but not harsh. My current IS250 rides firmer and it's uncomfortable over potholes - the GS is just better so I think I can live with it BUT... that made me think how good a Premier car with 18'' will be. If the difference is noticeable I will definitely go for Premier. If not, I will be considering F-sport as well. I looks so good with the 19'' and the f-sport bumpers. The F-Sport look - I’ve never seen one of these cars on the road before but this one looked amazing! It has just the right amount of aggressiveness without being too much. The power - it was completely fine in town and when driving in a relaxed manner. When we went to a 60mph road I did accelerate quite hard from 30 to 60 and I immediately thought "this car is not made for this". I’ve seen the stats (it’s slower than my IS250) so I was not surprised in any way. The seats - amazing! The seats in my car are just bad. They are probably one of the worst seats I’ve sat in. If I drive more than 1 hours my back starts aching like crazy. My brother drives 2006 Peugeot 207 and the seats in this car are much better than mine. Anyway, the seats in the GS felt amazing. I was excited to try the active bolsters. They were “hugging” me very well at the extreme setting so this might be fun to have on a spirited drive (if it wasn’t the 300h). Pricing - this is what puts me off from buying 300h and going for 450h instead. The prices for both are pretty much the same. Considering the performance difference and that when new, the 300h was £10 - £15k or so cheaper, just makes me thing that the 450h is much better value. I know the running costs (tax, insurance, fuel), maintenance and repairs are all more expensive, but if I was only looking at the lowest running costs I would just buy a 2-3 year old Yaris. My view before today’s test drive was pretty much to look ONLY for 450h Premier. And my opinion after today - 450h (F-Sport or Premier), or 300h F-Sport (but ONLY if it is a very good deal compared to 450h).
  21. If you have the owner's manual you can check p.839-840. The preferred oil for Europe is 0W-20 but 5W-30 can be used as well. I would say that there is no point trying 5W-20 because it will perform very similarly to 0W-20 in the hot weather. Probably the best solution is to use 5W-30 in the summer and 0W-20 in the winter but this means doing at least two oil changes every year.
  22. I spent £50 on K&N filter and it makes zero difference to the Bosch from Euro Car Parts. The only potential benefit is that it is washable but I think this is only useful for countries with a dusty air where you need to wash it every 6 months. Using K&N is a little pointless in UK, I think.
  23. If I had to make this choice I would go for the mk4 250. 5 years from now the mk4 will still look good inside and the mk3 is already looking dated (the design is around 20 year old after all!). The drivetrain is also much simpler and proven which hopefully means much less expensive to keep going. If I was only looking at mk3 450h, then I will try to go for something around 2010 (or newer) because Lexus will still do a hybrid battery warranty until the car is 15 year old. £11,500 for 2006 is too much imo. You can get 2011 for the same price and will have 4 years of battery warranty (if you wish). I was looking for 450h mk3 myself but the boot size is so small that makes is completely impractical for me.
