  1. I have waded through all 27 pages of this topic and off topic commentary, as I wanted to know what the GS would be replaced with. The ES styling looks just fine, but as just mentioned I wouldn’t buy a new one now, maybe in 2 or 3 years. Or maybe not. I have just bought an IS300h and I am very happy with it. Performance is far superior to the Prius I had so I have no delusions about it being under powered. It isn’t. While recently dropping it in for a free service, I spent the waiting time looking round the showroom offerings and sat in the GS300h and quite liked it. Indeed I was in 2minds to try and swap mine and a bit of cash for one. However, sanity prevailed and I didn’t, but I left with the feeling that the GS would be my next step up. Reading it was being discontinued was a bit of a bummer, so I hoped it’s replacement might match it, but reading the posts and seeing the reviews, it is likely to be a step backward. i don’t need a 3 or 3.5 litre non hybrid motor, I want supreme comfort, reliability and a stress free ride, which the Lexus hybrid really delivers. So I think my current solution will be to buy a 2018 GS 300h in a few years time, or maybe “man up” to the NX low hybrid mpg and swallow my hypermiling pride. Interestingly I used to own a Camry years ago overseas and it was a really good car, solidly built and bullet proof reliability. I’m glad to see it’s making a comeback in the UK and if push comes to shove, I could be tempted to get one of those instead. Yes, fickle, I know 😂
  2. So out of curiosity and feedback, I dropped the back seats to see if everything was ok and it’s just fine. Doesn’t catch or get stuck or anything, just works as normal. Regarding quality v original liner, I can’t comment as I didn’t buy the original one, but this one looks good enough, flexible enough and thick enough to do the job it was bought for, that is, lining the boot and protecting the mats from any marks. The large lip around will also contain any spillages from a shopping expedition gone wrong (broken bottles of liquid). in all, I’m very happy with this purchase and thanks for the recommend ColinBarber 👍
  3. I haven’t tried to fold the seats, just popped it in last night, but I don’t think it will be a problem anyway, as it moulds to the indentation in the boot floor at its rear, just behind the seats.
  4. William, it arrived today and fits like a glove, well worth it. The non slip bit in the middle as mentioned before is an improvement on the OEM liner too
  5. I would go back to Toyota, absolutely reliable, honest set of wheels. Older designs weren’t the best, very middle of the road, but the newer versions are interesting. Perhaps taking a leaf out of Lexus design book? The bottom line for me is reliability and Toyota does that in spades.
  6. Returning to the original post, 5 years changeover is probably ok. I had a Prius Gen II for 10 years and the only thing that ever failed on that car was the battery at 7 years, which I thought was pretty good compared to other cars batteries. Admittedly it was a royal pain on a cold winter morning to find the battery flat, but got a rescue start from home and went to the garage for a quick replacement. I drove the car 5 days a week, occasional weekend, and covered under 7000 miles a year, so the battery was in regular use, even if it was short 7 mile trips.
  7. Ok I will do, just ordered it now, £36.98 incl delivery charge
  8. Thanks ColinBarber That non Lexus one looks the part, I think I will get that one.
  9. I recently bought a Lexus IS300h executive edition. I am trying to get the rubber boot liner that I have seen in this model but further up the food chain. However, what I thought would be a simple job is now not so. I have tried Lexus official parts eBay store, online various suppliers and nobody seems to have this for my model (2013 onwards), plenty for the previous model though. Does anyone know a source for the boot liner please? Thanks
  10. Bullet proof Lexus. I always liked the 400 series limos, but was never fortunate enough to own one. Good luck with your restoration 👍
  11. Well it’s been almost a month we have had this car and I have to say I can’t wait to get in it each morning. It’s a great looking car and very comfortable too. Fuel consumption is between 45 and 49 mpg and I’m ok with that, never expecting to get anywhere near the 65mpg claimed. I have a short commute each day so it isn’t being used to best effect economy-wise, but it’s not shabby. The one thing I do miss though on this Lexus (Executive model) is a reverse camera. However you have to get a lot of extra kit to get it as standard, so I think a decent aftermarket fitting will have to make do, as I understand the OEM version can’t be retro-fitted. I’m not sure if I can get this done through the dealer but it would be good if I could, warranty-wise. I have not had a car before with auto wipers, which became apparent when I took it for a hand car wash. The guy squirts his foam on the windscreen, the wipers take it off. He does it again, same thing.... only then did I realise the auto was on. He didn’t look too happy, but I was having a good chuckle.
  12. Well the day has finally arrived to pick up my 66 Lexus 300h executive model. I will be sad to say goodbye to our faithful Prius workhorse, which gave 10 years of absolutely trouble free motoring, barring a 12v battery replacement after 6 years. Breakdown assistance on the insurance policy or through the bank was only used once for this. We are collecting from Lexus Derby and I have to give credit where it is deserved, they are a great team up there, made us feel at home for the test drive, sent a personalised video before it and pampered us with coffee and cake after the test drive - our nearest dealership will be Cambridge though, so just hope they continue the high standards set by their Derby colleagues. So, conscious of the recent World Cup and all the England support, we thought it only right that a 66 Lexus be the next car for us - it’s coming home.....
  13. Hi Wayne and happy new car ! I trade my 10 year old Prius in tomorrow for an IS300h executive, so no fancy sport model for me 😀. Having driven a hybrid all this time, I can also vouch that the hybrid system and battery are the absolute last things to worry about. Tyre pressures are useful to keep at manufacturers recommendations, although some like to over inflate to get better mpg. I think there’s a health and safety warning though not to do this, but it does improve mpg. Personally, I make good use of the cruise control whenever I can, even on short trips, so I will also do this on the Lexus. Pure hypermilers will say this is a no-no to get good fuel consumption, but it works for me. I got 59.3mpg on a 120 mile round trip to go test drive the Lexus, so it works great and I’m sure the Lexus will do the same. I am looking forward to trying the Sport setting though for a bit of fun, so tomorrow’s journey back will get a bit of a blast . However my work commute is only about 16 miles round trip, so Eco or normal mode looks like the norm until Friday comes.... Sport all the way home Enjoy your car and let all know how you are getting on.
