  1. Sunroof issue sounds like it needs a reset after battery going flat? When I've had discharged battery on our 400h, I've seen an error message on dash asking for “P” to be selected prior to starting even though P is already selected. Seems very much like a discharged battery. All you need to do now is find out why!
  2. We had the same problem with our 2005 RX400. I took it to a local garage who I know do a lot of welding and fabrication and they were able to weld plates on to the subframe where it had corroded. They dropped the frame so that they could plate both sides. Might be worth ringing round to see if a local garage could do something similar. Good luck.
  3. Just for information, having looked at the situation in more detail (thanks again Herbie), we concluded that dropping the subframe sufficiently to enable welding on both sides of the corrosion was the way to go. We then cleaned up all of the underside and waxoyled to hopefully delay any further issue. Seemed like an easier option than replacing the subframe. My advice would be to check for corrosion regularly to hopefully prevent it getting to the stage where MOT failure is an issue. Classic case of do as I say rather than do as I did!
  4. Thanks for the information Herbie; you are a mine of useful stuff! I'd hoped that welding might be an option Piers but I am concerned that it's too far gone. We've owned the car from new and so we're in the "worth more to us than anyone else" scenario! Thanks again for your help. Kind regards, Barry
  5. I'm afraid that our 2005 400h has failed MOT on the above. I recall one of our members was looking at fitting a used subframe to his RX due to the same problem, but I can't find a write up on the job. Has anyone attempted to replace a rear subframe? Is it a job that can be done "at home"? My son is a BMW technician so access to tools shouldn't be a problem, and we have a reasonable skill level but no Lexus experience. Any thoughts please?
  6. Not sure this helps, but might be worth checking. Had our RX400h regassed last week, and given the concern over the correct lubricant and possible contamination I took it to my local Lexus dealer. I was talking to the technician who did the work, and explained to him my concern that ND11 was used, even though my son is a technician at a BMW dealership. Apparently BMW use a PAG oil in their hybrids. The Lexus technician said that it was possible to obtain a PAG lubricant that was suitable for hybrids, but they used ND11 as it "refreshed the seals" in the system. It would appear that a PAG variant can be used on hybrids without damage. I obviously can't confirm this, but it might be worth checking.
  7. I've noted the comments on the Amazon page about the night vision capabilities of the camera. Despite having changed the reversing light bulbs for LED units, the rear vision at night is still pretty limited with the standard camera. Is there an improvement at night with this replacement camera? Thanks.
  8. I bought a backplate from them. Very helpful and prompt delivery of a genuine part. Hope that helps.
  9. I've just replaced the O/S/R hub on our RX400h. The backing plate was seriously corroded and could not be removed from the old hub without destroying it in the process. I therefore purchased a new backing plate from one of the ebay suppliers which was a genuine Toyota part. The backing plate is one piece, and includes the mounting for the handbrake cable (secured by small bolts through the backing plate in to the cable bracket), and also the handbrake shoes are mounted on and secured to the backing plate. I suppose you could cut away the backing plate apart from the central section where the handbrake cable and shoes are mounted, but I bit the bullet and replaced.
  10. Apologies for slightly off topic. I have the "factory fit" rear DVD player with a screen in each headrest. Neither the DVD player or the screens will power up, as there appears to be no feed to the accessory feed on the player; the permanent feed is still live. I can't find a blown fuse in either fuse box; does anyone know if there's an in line fuse, and if so where it is located? Thanks.
