  1. Totally agree, i would not touch this with a barge pole (i really hope it doesn't bite someone!), sadly the current era of Lexus cars is well behind the latest modular chassis design, in a car as capable as these its just not worth the risk
  2. The standard set uses the engine temp to warm the ATF fluid up from cold and vice versa when hot. By having a seperate cooler for the trans you will need to take particular care that you warm the box up, i dont know if you have ever noticed that it doesnt like shifting in manual mode from cold? this period will take even longer
  3. I have lost all confidence in Lexus to be honest, the car will be going to Competition Transmission Services
  4. unfortunately what they have put in writing is that they cannot say for certain that the gearbox will not need replacing but they have done 2 recently and the box didnt need to be changed, new gear boxes are no longer available
  5. I think @Cezar B was in the Wales that day.....
  6. right, really dont know what to do here, the estimate has come through but they are saying there is no quarantee that the gearbox will not need replacing too! anyone want an ISF😓
  7. both i believe, i have requested a break down of parts required from Lexus
  8. i've just spoken with Lexus Coventry and they are sufficiently happy that the solution they are providing will resolve all issues and will put it in writing too
  9. yeah i understand how the two can mix, but as the clutch plates do not sit in ATF how can coolant get to them if ATF cant?
  10. thats a strange one as i wouldnt have thought the ATF goes anywhere near the clutch packs, so unsure how coolant could contaminate them
  11. transmission cooler failure. best case they replace the rad and cooler, flush engine and gearbox, replace filter etc £2300 Worst case all of the above, disassemble and remove gearbox and replace solonoids in the gear box and reassemble £3700
  12. the dealer has said he has come across a few of these in the last 18 months
  13. just had THE call from Lexus, it has turned out to be the dreaded coolant to ATF issue, i am out of warranty
  14. yeah its with Lexus Coventry, really looking forward to their call tomorrow, honest!!
  15. so today this happened! was driving along and gear changes felt a bit funny, then all of a sudden lost all drive, pulled over straight away, turned the car off then watch the puddle grow! on the plus side my tan is looking pretty good after sitting at the side of the A46 for nearly 4 hours!
  16. its not a straight swap as the connectors are different, there are a few guys on the American forums that have done it, but its not straight forward
  17. not strictly true, BRIC fuels (Brazil, Russia, India, China) are often well under 95 RON, cars we produce for these regions generally have a different fuel system
  18. pretty much all fuel has "cleaning benefits" these days as they have an ethanol content
  19. cleaned the outside of the missus's car, started the inside then decided the easiest route would be to fit a whole new interior!
