  1. Thanks for that, mine's SORN at the moment so when I do the direct debit it should be a lot cheaper mines 31/05/2017
  2. And the nice thing about the AVS is you can leave it in standard mode and when you get a move on you can notice it all tightening up. I had my Mini Clubvan converted to the Tein EDFC PRO system which was also very clever, well worth the money as it rode like a limo on motorways then tightened up to being a super sorted Mini on the twisty A roads.
  3. If you have the budget go for a later car with AVS.
  4. I knew all along there must have been an issue, like I have mentioned I thought when I went over to 20 inch wheels with tyres to match it would ruin the ride, but it hasn't, in fact I can't really say I've noticed any big change in the ride quality from the standard wheels. Well done Lexus for installing a pretty good system, there are better on the market but you just know being Lexus it will probably perform well until the car is too old to worry about. And unlike other marques won't cost a fortune to maintain.
  5. Just checked the rear diff oil was changed at the last but one service. So good on the dealer for doing it.
  6. I'm going to check my service receipts as my RCF has TVD so it should have been done on the time factor as the car has only done 12K miles.
  7. Somewhere in my past I had a SL 63 with that wonderful N/A engine loved it to bits. I guess you have done your research on the head bolt issue which could lead to the engine getting hydolocked, I never experienced any such problems but it was always in the back of my mind. The RCF is pretty bombproof and I believe a lot less worry and money. A test drive in both is essential in my opinion. I did test drive the later twin turbo replacement to the N/A engine it was brutal and made even more noise and by all accounts a little less prone to issues.
  8. Well at least they have identified the cause. Wow just thinking about the fact yours has been stuck at full hard makes me shudder. Like I have said before on my back to back test drive of a non AVS car and an AVS equipped car I chose to pay the extra large amount of money for the AVS car. I did come from an air ride suspension AMG which was very much a magic carpet ride and the AVS equipped RCF just about replicated that ride so that's why I bought it. Hopefully when you get it sorted you can really enjoy what I consider to be a pretty well sorted car because I'm a big fan of the system and the car.
  9. As I'm considering getting the lower Swift springs in the future I did try to find out if anyone on the USA forum had experienced any problems and I couldn't find any issues raised. Let me assure you there is a difference because I very rarely use Sports plus setting as it is just a bit too hard for my likings preferring to let it do it's own thing with the Sports setting.
  10. One would hope that Lexus service is a bit more grown up about such things. It raises the issue as to whether you will have to go back to them if you change over to the lower springs. So far my experience with Hedge End has been one of a helpful attitude when unbeknown to all the TPMS units fitted by the wheel place were not compatible with the Lexus system. Admittedly the guy who seems to service my car says he likes it and what I've done to it. So hopefully you will encounter a similar helpful frame of mind from where you get yours serviced
  11. were the connections removed when you changed the springs?
  12. I wonder if the suspension system in the CL65 AMG could have been different. I know I had a conversation on Pistonheads with a chap praising the CL65 suspension system because even with it's pretty hefty 600 plus BHP it never changed it's super flat appearance under heavy acceleration or braking. Also it's cornering prowess for a big car was pretty tidy on A roads. Just a thought because it was super comfy regardless of how it was driven, although I like the N/A V8 in the RCF part of me misses a twin turbo V12.
  13. This looks to be the answer doesn't it. Perhaps it just needs to be re-set, in fact it seems obvious.
  14. I'm glad you have resurrected this thread, as I mentioned originally my AMG had that wonderful air suspension system that ensured the car always rode flat. It also was a real magic carpet ride and on a long distance journey certainly made the drive very enjoyable. The reason I said this was because I replaced the AMG with the RCF. On my test drive of the AVS equipped car I concluded that it obviously wasn't as good as the AMG but it was so close. Perhaps my many years of owning powerful Luxo Barges made me oversensitive to ride quality I don't know. But I would never of bought the non AVS car. It's a shame you are so far away as I'd welcome you to drive mine even with its 20 inch wheels. You need to find someone who knows their onions to check it out because I'm sure there must be something not right.
  15. Just in case. https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=&ved=2ahUKEwig3rq69rX7AhUKIsAKHfxvCBEQFnoECA0QAQ&url=https%3A%2F%2Fnewsroom.lexus.eu%2Flexus-upgrades-gs-f-and-rc-f-with-adaptive-variable-suspension%2F&usg=AOvVaw2hkBHnVSuOaDQKyf-uXnBa
  16. I understood that the system reacted to the way you drive, this is one of the reasons I keep it out of Sport+ because if you really get a shift on it probably tightens up enough for really stiff. There is a technical paper issued by Lexus that covers the unit in the RCF
  17. I can assure you there is a very noticeable difference to the settings. I may have mentioned this before but when I changed over to 20 inch wheels I was dreading the fact I may have lost that lovely smooth ride you can only get with the AVS car. But to my pleasant surprise it didn't so I would say it needs looking at. When I first started to look for a RCF I was fortunate to find a dealer with both a non AVS and an AVS car. I drove them back to back and bought the later AVS car despite it being well over £14-15K more there was that much difference.
  18. I thought your car was a later one with AVS, in which case it should soften up nicely. I'm running 20 inch wheels and with the car set on standard the AVS produces a very comfortable ride.
  19. Did you opt for the carbon finish? if so what's it like?
  20. I like those, I'm guessing they are plastic. Saw an RC at Snows being serviced with similar, I'm tempted I must say.
  21. Yes I noticed the fuselage too. With Lasham just up the road I wonder if it came from there. Many years ago Dan Air had big hangars at Lasham and we sprayed a few of them back in the day when they serviced big passenger jets.
