  1. Thanks for the complement 🙂 I wouldn't be too hard on your dealer - there have been a few posts floating around saying that the official release date for this update is October once the dealers have been trained. I know that the mechanics spend most of their time dealing the physical / greasy / oily parts of the vehicles - I doubt many of them thought they would have to become experts in technology when they became mechanics. I doubt the dealers are checking the Lexus-tech website daily unlike geeks like me. To use CarPlay just connect a USB cable to one for the sockets in the arm rest. The phone doesn't actually need to be on the wireless charger (I don't have one anyway) as the phone will get power down the cable. Once connected 'Apple CarPlay' is then an option when you press the menu button for the Nav system. Later today I'm going to try a wireless adaptor I have purchased - this will hopefully allow CarPlay to function without requiring me to plug the cable in each time. I've seen positive and negative reviews of the unit I've purchased so I'll have to see how it goes...
  2. I think the retrofit notification is part of the retrofit upgrade and not the 1140 software. However, the first time I accessed the Lexus Online part of my system was after I'd done the 1140 upgrade (and connected to my WiFi)
  3. Here is a screenshot showing the sizes of the downloaded ZIP files and there sizes once unzipped
  4. The instructions state that you need an 8, 16 and 32GB stick. Yes I applied the 1140 update after the CarPlay update. No idea if actually necessary but it is a higher version number for the MEU.
  5. You need a subscription to https://www.lexus-tech.eu An hours access is about £4.50. I’ve written about how to access the site before HERE
  6. Sorry I realise my post above isn’t clear. The OTA nav updates are mentioned (only briefly) in the retrofit instruction. The 1140 software was just some bug fixes.
  7. An interesting find... my upgrade this evening gave me Nav Software version 1120. I noticed that the tech site back in April had a 19MM MEU upgrade to 1140, so I've just installed that. I'm guessing that the Retrofit package was created before the 1140 update was created. I know that Covid delayed the release of the retrofit (the files in the downloaded ZIP files for the retrofit have a range of dates, mostly late 2019 but the latest appears to be March 2020). As part of the retrofit, when I now access the Lexus Online section of the display there is now an option to update the maps over the Internet - will be interesting the see if it works later in the year rather than doing a download on the computer: You also get a message telling you that you have upgraded when you first access this screen:
  8. Accessing the software from the tech site will cost you about £4.50 - access the TSB as detailed earlier. The links the files and the necessary passwords to unzip them are in the TSB.
  9. I used 1 x 8GB and 2 x 32GB. I see what you are saying about the files fitting on the smaller stick. I wonder if they have used different sizes to make it easier to know which is which. The stage with USB stick 3 does appear to do a lot of copying/verifying. Having looked at the contents after the update they are now the same as before the upgrade. There is chance it was using the extra space on this stick to decompress or temporarily store some data. I personally wouldn't want to risk a smaller stick just in case. A 32GB stick of good quality (Sandisc) can be had from Amazon for £6.
  10. Just installed the update on my NX. A bit long winded with the multiple USB sticks but every went according to play. Took just over 90 mins in total.
  11. It’s badly worded. This converts a 17MM system to 19MM
  12. I’ve prepared all the USB sticks ready to go. I may try tomorrow but I may also ask my dealer - slightly worried about potential warranty issues. The installation has multiple steps and uses some of the three USB sticks more than once. it also requires the Nav maps to be on 2018v1 or newer.
  13. The Apple CarPlay / Android Auto update has appeared on the tech website for NX/UX/ES models with navigation (MM17 systems) I've just had a quick read - it takes around 1.5 hrs to install and involves three separate USB sticks.
  14. The system is CY17 (also called MM17). On the UX this is available in two different screen sizes. As Colin says the manual will cover both sizes. The manual for my NX mentions different sizes too. The standard screen size in the UX is 7 inch. The standard model is only available with this size. The F Sport has the option to have the bigger screen while the Takumi spec comes with the bigger.
  15. I don’t believe the update is ready yet. It has been delayed due to Covid. The costs will depend on the dealer. Some may do it FOC but most likely they will charge something to cover the time it will take.
  16. I think the fixes were: Information not shown when bluetooth playlist is used Some issue with Spotify over bluetooth when track is changed Issue with DAB, No signal after hourly broadcast
  17. A new software update for the Audio side of the MM17 system in newer NX vehicles (from late 2017 onwards - MY2018+) was released yesterday on the tech website. The new Audio software version is: 1457 I've written extensively in the past on how to obtain these updates - please check out this post. This software doesn't add anything new and is just another round of bug/stability fixes. MP3 files from a USB stick still play in the wrong (alphabetical) order 😞 For readers with other models, this update provides the following version numbers for the Audio software: NX, LS, RC, LC (LC produced after June 2019): v1457 LC (before June 2019): v1042 UX, ES: v1066 So as of 5th Sept, the latest software versions for the NX are as follows (excluding vehicles which already have Apple CarPlay installed as I believe their software is different). As always, if you are unsure please do not undertake the update. Thanks Phil
  18. Just models with the MM17 media system which started with the minor facelift around December 2017.
  19. Update Gone? Wonder if the USB stick had crashed / lost connection? Not something I’ve seen before.
  20. No, still waiting for the CarPlay update to be released.
  21. Try a different stick if you have one. System should auto detect it once you plug it in. Let the nav system boot up first and remove any other USB devices too.
  22. Check the USB stick is formatted as FAT32 and not NTFS. Make sure you have unzipped the download The stick should only have the FMU folder on it. Inside the FMU folder there should ONLY be four iso files.
  23. The portal doesn’t work - you need to look at the Tech site instead. Take a look at my thread in the NX forum
