  1. The new larger screen Premium Nav (17CY) comes with 3 years of map care according to the Lexus-Tech website. I successfully updated mine without charge.
  2. No, you're not paying for the update. You are paying to access the Lexus-Tech website to download the files. It will cost about £3 for an hours access. If you feel that you should have the updated firmware already on a new car, go back to the dealer.
  3. Love the line "Bespoke OEM design and not available in retail channels", even though the camera is available at Amazon. Mine is Nextbase branded as shown in the PDF, but my dealer said their next delivery of units were going to be Toyota branded. The box the kit came in said "Toyota Kit" on it.
  4. Here is some daytime footage from my camera. I'll add night time footage over the weekend: https://youtu.be/0MybHnN5IsU
  5. I haven’t actually driven at night yet. Will be doing at the weekend so I’ll upload some footage. No option of a rear camera. This particular model doesn’t support it.
  6. If you have the Premium Nav with the remote touch controller then yes. The latest version available is PZ445-US335-0P. It will be replaced soon (normally Oct/Nov). Search for this part number on eBay and you should find a number of sellers. If you have the Standard Nav with the rotary controller then no.
  7. Just had one installed by Lexus Sheffield - very pleased with it, both in terms of quality and price. It comes as a kit that Lexus/Toyota have put together which includes the following items: Nextbase 380GW (1080p Recording with GPS and WiFi) Link 16GB MicroSD Card NBDVRHK - Hard Wire Kit NBDVR380BAT - Battery Pack (to allow use of Intelligent Parking Mode - camera automatically starts recording if movement detected) All in, including fitting it was £275 inc VAT. The kit has the product code GBNGA-LEXDC-AM Considering the camera on its own without the sd card, hardwire kit or battery is £179 I thought the price was excellent. The quality of installation is great with no sign of wires at all. It fits flush with the windscreen so the image quality is really good - the camera doesn't get shaken about.
  8. The latest version currently available is PZ445-US335-0P - new versions generally appear to come out every March/April and Oct/Nov and the final letter has been working through the alphabet (although they skipped O), so the next version should be 0Q The official description of this update on the website is: Update Europe 2018 (Q2) microSD Card (Navteq 2017Q2). Navteq is the name of the company that provides the mapping data and the data they have provided is from the 2nd quarter of 2017. The booklets that used to come with the DVD updates I've bought previously explained that Lexus/Toyota needed time to collate and verify the data before release, so the maps would be 6-12 months old. SD cards seem to go for £40-80 on auction sites depending on the seller. The official Lexus and Toyota map update websites charge 165 Euro + VAT. I can't believe that a Lexus dealer wanted to charge so much for an SD card (massive mark up there) and even £30 labour for a 5 second job.
  9. Graham, based on the DVD photo you've supplied I think it is a disc for a Gen 01 system. However there is a chance (being a 2003 car) that your system may be a Gen 03. (the ver 2002 that you mention printed on the DVD relates to the date the maps were created) I have a spare Gen 03/05 DVD at home (with 2012 map data on) that I'm happy to send to you if you want to try it. If you are interested send me a private message with your address and I'll stick it in the post. As an aside, do you get the disclaimer screen at all when you boot up the system? If so, from the picture I've attached which colour pattern do you get?
  10. Around 2003 there were a number of different versions of DVDs around. I remember buying the wrong DVD for my old IS200 (2001 model). The error message you describe is the same as what I remember from all those years ago. If you could post a photo of the DVD you have and a photo of the startup screen (the one that says "I agree") I might be able to work out if the disc is correct and which one you would need if it is wrong. I have a spare DVD here which I'm happy to send to you, but I think it might be from a newer system.
  11. I second the above - the carousel graphics and the rotary controller would indicate that you have the non-premium navigation system. This doesn't support Lexus Connected Services so there isn't anything you can do remotely via the website - this is why the option to register your system isn't displayed.
  12. Ah yes I remember that happening to me. Just copy the kwi file to a USB and update. Unzipping the DCI file should give a kwi too. The car needs the unzipped files.
  13. I kept the the engine in ready mode throughout the 70 minutes. Most of the time this was using the hybrid battery but occasionally the engine fired up to top up the battery. The point I was making was that you should try doing this off the internal 12V battery (accessory mode) alone as you will probably drain it. I was just parked on the drive throughout - the system will not try to shut down unless you run out of petrol! Just don't leave the car unattended as someone could drive off in it. You are correct - the 4 files (10GB) are just to update the Nav database. On the screen shots you've supplied, just use 17CY system. The others are for older Nav systems. These files ONLY update the Nav database. The Audio and Nav software are carried out separately. You'll need to download the TSB I've mentioned earlier to get these.
  14. It is interesting that your system reports the nav database to be '943' but mine reports it as '2018v1'. They are probably the same version as the download I installed was numbered 943 in the file name. Probably not significant but it is something I noticed.
  15. The audio update was 470MB - took 5-10 mins to install The Nav system update was 1.6GB - took 15-20 mins to install The Nav Database update was about 10GB - took 60-70 mins to install (a long time to leave the engine running!) All very straight forward - you do one at a time. Only have one update on a USB stick at a time. The instructions for the first two and links to download are contained in Technical Services Bulletin BE-00006L-TME. Log into the tech website, click on Repair, then Technical Services Bulletin. Enter your VIN (or search by model). The bulletin you require is currently on the 2nd page. It says it was last updated on 18/10/2017 but that date is incorrect. Once downloaded the latest revision is dated 19/07/2018. The Nav update is accessed by clicked on Owner then Map and Software Updates. Select the 17CY system and follow the instructions to download and install/activate. (this section says the latest version is 2017v4, but the download I received was actually 2018v1). The info screen for this update says "3 years of Map Care are applicable to this unit." so I'm guessing that Lexus have listened to previous complaints and give the first few updates free of charge. As mentioned previously, you will need a paid subscription to access the TSB. Please don't ask me to share the files/PDFs here.
  16. I did it at home using the files available on the tech website (via USB not Wi-fi). You’ll need a paid subscription to access them. Cost 3 Euro for an hour.
  17. Picked up my Jan 2018 NX300h Luxury yesterday. The software versions were as follows: After updating everything available from the Tech website, they are now: Early days so far - not played with it very much. It hasn't crashed yet though. I think it is going to take some getting used to. First impressions, I preferred the software on the older premium nav systems.
  18. Standard nav is updated by USB and is technically dealer only. However I know some people have bought updates from here: https://www.satnavishop.co.uk/lexus-25-c.asp
  19. Were any of the drives that didn’t work formatted as NTFS as that file system won’t work. Needs to be FAT or FAT32.
