  1. Won't be a driveshaft if it happens only in certain gears. I'm going to go with the gearbox. Do the simplest and cheapest thing that could fix it.. Have it flushed and put new good gearbox oil in.
  2. Well I had to cut a lot of the arch liner out to stop the wheels rubbing so I'm not surprised it found its way there. I'll investigate this weekend 😄
  3. @Linas.PQuick update.. Found the issue with my washers, and it's rather stupid one and my own fault 🤣 I only noticed yesterday when I pulled the stalk on the drive and then came out and noticed a puddle of fluid by my front wheel.. I never noticed the hose in my wheel arch, but because my car so low, the washer fluid hose kept rubbing against the tyre which caused the leak.. I'm just gonna replace a section of the hose and happy days.
  4. IS350 is a matter of ~£8000 these days. Get one from Japan. RC on the other hand.. That we both really want is still very expensive😪 UK climate doesn't justify AWD unless you're a muddy farmer, into green laning or just scared of RWD..
  5. Made me laugh because it was a silly comparison on your part... "Something better" subjective. The fact is that BRZ/86 does a short track such as Wakefield Park in 1:10 stock. Legacy Spec B does it in 1:13.. There you go then.
  6. You sound upset😂 I have driven a 3.0L 6 speed Legacy wagon.. I was looking at getting them at one point but I didn't after I drove it. Underwhelming. Sounds great on paper though. You're comparing apples to oranges. It's like me saying why didn't you get a S4 instead, you melon. It's a FWD 180hp Fiesta ST180 with open diff you're stroking your ego up against there. I'll give you this, on a wet country road, yes, maybe (depending on your driving skill). On dry, legacy wouldn't stand a chance against the 86. The beauty of them is that they can out run more powerful cars because they're light, nimble and balanced, but I take it you've never done any track days to know what cars are like when they're pushed to the traction limit beyond 70mph and you're only ever giving the big-un when you can fully utilise the awd system on slick roads. - like I said. Great in their element a.k.a sh*t weather. Otherwise they're nothing special in terms of performance. Be better off having the EJ20 Spec B.
  7. Yes, Subarus are good when they're in their element. Otherwise they're not amazing. And you can't compare a farmer's car with luxury cruisers. AWD is not going to do a lot at all when you start aquaplaning, so staying "safe" at 120 in wet is down to your tyres more than anything else. As I fellow Subaru owner, albeit Toyota GT86(BRZ), they are quite good driver's cars, but nothing more than that. I had an Aussie imported manual SF Forester and as fun as it was on the fields, there was nothing more to it. I sold it a year later because 1) we don't get no snow here and the little we do, I will enjoy more with a RWD car 2) No luxuries in the car 3) Really crap on fuel - can't justify it with performance
  8. My mrs has the exact car, 1.5 civic sport+ with the pan roof etc. I can confirm the boot is massive and the sound system is shocking, but at the end of the day, it's two different leagues of cars.
  9. Mine are 310mm vented on '08 SE so it must be the year like you say..
  10. Mate, I'd do it for you for 50 quid lmao. shame youre £50 of fuel away
  11. I pulled the T joint out, tested it and nothing was coming out. So if there is a blockage it's not in this area. I can hear the pump/motor working when I pull the stalk, but nothing is happening. I haven't checked the motor yet but I suspect the nipple on the motor where the hose attaches is damaged/blocked. My dad has an IS250 as well, so I'll just swap the motors to see if it's that. If not, back to diagnosing other bits.
  12. I know you can. What I meant is that the IS250 base models with 16" wheels had smaller brakes IRCC just because it was a lower spec model, not because of clearance. Yes, 220d kept the smaller discs.
  13. They charge silly money! They are 310mm yes. Smaller size is used on IS220d and maybe IS250 with standard 16" wheels, the base model. It's £130 for a pair of Brembo discs on Euro Car Parts
  14. Were you able to hear motor/pump before? Mine stopped working some time ago but MOT is around the corner... I can hear the motor / pump when I pull the stalk. Checked the T joint attached to the bonnet. No blockages. Must be something in the tank itself. No leaks.. Is there a propeller the could be snapped?
  15. Lexus don't exactly offer that many trim levels and options when it comes to the few cars they sell..it's not exactly impossible to do a little homework and learn about different trims and options on the cars you're selling. Does my head in. It's what happens when you have people who have 0 interest in cars, selling cars.. Just purely bad at their jobs.
  16. People trust the dealer to be 100% honest and because they do, the dealer knows that he can take advantage of them.. And to be honest, 90% of the time, the people selling those cars have no fkin clue either. (Unless you go to a dodgy looking backyard dealer who's waiting for a clueless victim to stroll in so he can sell them a lemon). Whenever I go see a car at a garage, used or new, I know more about it than the salesman which is worrying. Used car dealerships I get, there's too many cars to keep on top of, but if you walk in to a Toyota dealership looking at a GT86 and you know more than the salesman who only ever sells 5 different cars, it's a bit sad. Makes you not wanna buy the car from a person like this because they don't deserve the commission lol. Luckily for them, there isn't many people like me out there.
  17. Boggles my mind that people 90% of the time go shopping for a car without having a clue about it. It's a big purchase and you need to make sure you get from point A to point B without any issues along the way. Regardless of how long you're planning on keeping the car. Sadly, like you say a lot of dealers are dodgy, even main dealerships are crooked. I wouldn't trust a word they say without any evidence of what they say. They only want to make a sale, rarely care about anything else. If I come across a car I like the look of, I do my research to see what the common issues are, if the engines are any good and what to look out for on the said car when buying it so I can avoid relying on what the sales man says because he will tell you only what you wanna hear. Warning, bit of a rant. My girlfriend was looking to get a new car after only ever driving VW Polo for years. It was her first car, and every 2-3 years she'd get a brand new Polo from the dealership. I showed her over a dozen good cars she might be interested in (likes the look of basically) and she picked one - 2019 Honda Civic. Now, I picked the engine as she would've gone for the crappy turbo 3 cylinder 1.0l petrol just because it's meant to be good on fuel... I chose the better version - 4 cylinder, 1.5L turbo 200hp petrol otherwise known as the Civic 'Sport' version (twin centre exit exhausts and other bits). It has pretty much identical fuel consumption as the 1.0l, so it's silly having an unbalanced vibrator of an engine under the bonnet when you can have the smooth 4 cylinder (test driven both at local dealership, the 3 cylinder was truly awful). When searching for the right car, there was only 2 cars we considered. 2018 Civic Sport from Arnold Clark and 2019 Civic Sport Plus from a Honda dealership down in Guildford. Both exact same price, but the Sport+ in Guildford was newer but also had 10,000 miles more on the clock. The Sport+ was the winner (but it's good to have Plan B) as it's the top of the range spec with panoramic sunroof, heated seats, adaptive damping, keyless entry & push to start.. and also very rare. At the time, there was only one other Sport+ in the same colour on AutoTrader, but it was CVT. Phoned the dealer who was down in Guildford (2.5h journey one way for us) and asked about the car etc. He said the car is spotless, it's in a really amazing condition etc. and that he will send me a walk around video of the vehicle. After watching their horrible quality video (in 2022!) I still managed to spot a few dents on the car just because they way light was reflecting off the paint.. Nothing major, it had 3 dents in total, little shopping trolley or door dents. I called him out on it and he says "oh yes, I was going to call the dent repair man anyway and get it fixed before you came to see the car" - Mind you, this was 2 days before we ended up going down there and see/take the car (we needed to act quickly because this was Tuesday, we were going away for the weekend and they wouldn't hold the car until next week). Funny thing is that I had to specifically tell him where the dents were. If I have to tell him where the dents were, it meant he had no idea, which meant he wasn't going to call the dent repair man if I didn't say anything. I know i'm going on about something minor, but it's the principle of it. It pis*es me off when dealers say it's "showroom condition" and then they try to sell the car with marks like that. And if I didn't notice them, they would still be on the car now.. Also they wouldn't price match part ex valuation to Arnold Clark who was offering £17,2k for her Polo. These guys said they wouldn't go above £16.5k because they asked VW garages around what the part ex value of it would be and basically didn't believe me that AC offered 17.2k They asked to see the proof of that offer lol. Anyway, I did prove them wrong, but they still wouldn't budge. I ended up talking them down on the price of the Civic by £500.. so in the end we paid £200 more than what would've paid at AC, but we got a much better, rarer spec of the Civic that will hold its value slightly better than a regular spec Civic. Got 2 years free servicing & 1 year warranty to offset the £200 difference, so all in all it was a happy ending but a fairly stressful process dealing with them.
  18. I must be the underdog, because I'd pick a fast wagon over a fast saloon any day of the week and I have 0 use for either. I don't need a practical car, I just think they look better. Especially the 2004+ Legacy, but you are right. I was tempted by getting a 3.0l Legacy and it would only be the manual model.
  19. To be fair, purposely built car cannot be compared to a normal road version. Subaru Legacy, even with the EZ30 flat 6 is not a performance wagon, it just happens to have a bigger engine in it.. There's only a handful of wagons built for the purpose out of the factory > Volvo 850R, BMW M5, maybe even older AMGs, Cadillac CTS-V, Golf R, RS4, RS6. Can't think of any other "super" wagons.
  20. oh 😕 at least you'll get it sorted for good! What mileage is your car on just out of curiosity? I thought my alternator was bad when my car kept dying but it turned out to be the fact that it was on the original battery for 11 years
  21. @Mr Vlad can't you just get it reconditioned? If you can use a different car for a few days, it's much better way to do it, financially anyway.. it'd work out cheaper even if you had to rent a car for a couple of days lol.
  22. I worked for LIQUI MOLY. Oil & Additives manufacturer. Additives made very little difference and it really depends on when you start putting them in the car. If it's too late, they won't make any difference. They're more so a preventative treatment in most cases rather than a magical fix. I used their fuel additives before, it was meant to flush the injectors should there be any gunk - I couldn't tell a difference. Tried an octane booster too, I'm sure the fuel burnt better but I wouldn't say it made a difference on the lexus.. turbo charged cars maybe respond better to it.
