it was about £150-200 cheaper for me, doesn't make sense to me, if i had the money i would have def got the sport! J.

i got quotes from tesco when i was buying my lexus and the insurance was cheaper on the sport than it was on the SE. if i had the extra money i would have bought the sport but i only just had enough money for an S. if you can get a Sport than do it! :D J.

oh no what have i started, seems that everyone has this problem, should i replace the bottom ball joint then? or is there something else that will need changing? thanks Jason.

the sound that im gettin is a clear knocking noise and a bit of a creak that can be heard form outside the car as people tend to look round at me or is that just cause i have a lexus (only joking). i thought that it might be the bottom ball joint but if people have replaced this and the suspension and it still knocks then what is it? thanks Jason.

just a quick post to see if anyone has had the same problem. every time i turn a corner, usually right, i get a funny knocking sound from the nearside wheel area. could possibly be a suspension bush, or mabey a ball joint? anyone know? Thanks Jason. :)

No pictures as of yet! there where 5 in total, a sport with 99k on the clock and looked pretty banged up went for £9150. apart from that dont know, my lex was the first to go through, bought it paid and left! did you want my left over subscriptions so you can look at the car details before they go through the auction? its great! i cant believe how nice and smooth the car is, not hard though comparing it to a punto is it! gettin the bonnet resprayed, couple of chips so needs doin, on the cheap for about £20. and havin the engine bay steam cleaned next week! i finish uni on thursday and have a month off before i start my new job to clean it up a bit! :D J.

i can't believe it, i actually have a lexus, your all right, i love it! its so much better than my punto, can't stop grining from ear to ear :D went to bca blackbushe today, bank holiday monday, and bought one! its a black 2000 s with 66k on the clock, full service history, couple of small dents(real small) and four brand new tires (only 1 week old). .......and it was within my budget of £7500. i bought the car for £7350, and it didn't go 'Provisionally'. well geuss that means i can finally go gold. i have insurance, no tax or mot yet! mot gettin done tomoro and will get tax the second the insurance details drop through the door! not to start lookig at Chrome and Hydroulics :winky: J.

thanks oli ep3, whitie, and lexus jim for putting this back on topic! i have looked at the altezza but i dont really want to pay the higher insurance, its already enough as it is! Plus i really want a manual. Im still at uni at the moment, but i finish next thursday, then i have a month before i start my job to find one! i just dont have the time at the moment to look for one! yes, the prices are cheap but as you say some of them do go provisionaly. meening that the owner is contacted because it is below the reserve, some owners do agree the lower price and some don't its down to luck at the end of the day. still don't know about the lexus! im going down there for a test drive friday and while im down there im also going to test drive a yaris t sport, bit different i know but im so confused now. i was certain i could aford a lexus easily but now i dont know, i have only ever owned a little 1.2 mk1 fiat punto. was loads of fun to just boot it about but now i understand that i need something better, thing is it aint hard to find something better. what ever i end up drivin will be better, i just really want an IS. J.

Don't know if anyone knows yet, could be old news, just looked in the new Max Power mag (its cr*p i know but its my brothers not mine) and HKS have just designed their first bodykit and they have chosen the Lexus IS :D Good choice if you ask me! J.

its only a 6 mile round trip to work but i will also have site visits and client meetings during the day that i will need to go to. also i will be using the car evenings and weekends. as for prices from the auction...... silver s 2001 64k £7475 black sport 2001, small scuffs, 44k £9675 silver se 2001, 53k £8550 Blue se, 2001, auto, 62k £8675 Black s, 2001, 77k £7950...................the dealers gave up on this one but one insisted on stopping me from buying it! try again i guess! no, no luck at the auction. don has managed to change my mind im thinking now of not gettin one, does it really cost that much to run. now im carless and dont know what to do, is or not is? im only 21, i think the don might be right! it is going to cost an arm and a leg to run it and i would give my other arm and leg to own one, that leaves me with no limbs to drive with! what do i do? any idea's for cars? j.

I have checked the bca blackbushe website and the highest mileage lexus going through on monday is 77k. this also happens to be the one im going for. its a black 2001 s, i want black cause i think it will look sweet with huge chrome wheels, and blacked out windows, well as much as the law will let me!

but i only have £7500 and can't spend £1 more, if an SE comes along for what i have than i will but it but im going to be lucky to get an S for that price! J

not too sure on that one, was thinking white alcantara but leather is going to be easier to keep clean! mabey a bit of both

yes, i understand that the s is lackin in its trim etc. but at the end of the day i want the seats retrimmed in white and will be changing a lot of the interior, also the insurance is about £150 cheaper. although it will start going up when i start with the moddin! im not to worried about gettin an s, the engines are the same. so im happy :D thanks. well have spoken to Tesco today and i will have my loan by Friday this week! i already have te £2500 from sellin my punto and have got a loan for £5000, so have £7500 in total! but can it be done! i have checked the bca blackbushe website and am going up there on monday 24th. currently there is 7 is200's going through on that day, and finger's crossed im going to be walking, sorry..... driving away with one. most of the cars being auctioned are SE's or Sport's but tucked away amongst them is a little 2001 black s that i reckon i have a slim, real slim chance of mabey gettin because all the dealers will flock for the SE/Sport models giving me a chance at the little s! then i can officially be part of loc and not just a wanna be i will post the prices of what they all go for and let you know how i get on, last time i went a 2001 sport with 86k on the clock went for £8050, fingers crossed! J.
