  1. I dont know how my gearbox looks inside, the advice to skip the detergent came from Lexus repair shop boss, so i followed his advice , my thinking is that after 250000km and 15 years the oil probably dont have the same quality as a new oil. If you look at the HomePage of the Is250 gearbox manufacturer they recomend Flushing after 50000Km on this gearbox. But i wil be the first to admit that the Sealed for life statement from Lexus is a strange statement when Nissin say 50000km.
  2. I did the Flush with no gearbox problem, the only reason was that the oil had been used 250000km, but after the change the gearbox is more responsive in gearing up and down, if this is important i dont know, but it tells me that the gearbox change behavior over time caused by older and not so effective oil, if its dangerous or not to not change the oil is not easy to tell but i am happy with the result.
  3. I changed the filter also. I dont know the power of the Flushing stream compered to the stream in the gearbox but i did the Flushing and its to late to regret.
  4. The method to level the oil is the same, but you only do it one time in a Flushing.
  5. The diffirence is that if you want to replace all oil you have to do the empty pan method maybe 8-10 times and still you are not sure that all the old oil is out of the gearbox, for me the decission was easy, but yes there are more than one road to Rome.
  6. Ok, i flush oil through the gearbox with a Flushing machine, but i did’nt do the first step in a normal Flushing , meaning that i did’nt use the Cleaning detergent, if this mean Flushing or not i dont know but the purpose of the job was to get all the old oil out of the gearbox and replace it with new, since i used a Flushing machine i call it Flushing, i was advised by a Lexus chief mechanic that not use the detergent because the gearbox had 250000km run and debris from the gearbox could get in the solenoids and make problems, if the car had 100000km on the meter i would have used the detergent fluid.
  7. Not according the diagram i found, but i wasent there when i got my car done, so maybe you are right.
  8. I did flush my Is250 but I did’nt use the chemical cleaning stuff, advised by the Lexus workshop boss, reason for not using the cleaning fluid was to avoid loose Debris from the gearbox to get in the solenoids. My gearbox was in my opinion in full order before the flush but after the Flushing the gearbox is more responsive , flushed because the car had 250000km on the meter. i cant recomend or not recomend but tell my story, so its up to you what decision you make, i dont know the Brand name of the Flushing machine but its a Toyota store that did the job.
  9. And remember that 2006-2007 Lexus Is 250 cant use E10 gasoline.
  10. Does it works? Acording many US stories they colect oil ind the can, this oil vil not reach the engine, if its importent is not that easy to tell, but since Carbon build up is a common problem fore some kind of engine and the is250 engine is one of them i did the job, less than 60£ all included and easy to do. My car is not in use in the Winter anymore so i have only tried the car about 50km vith the can instaled, so i have not checked the can fore oil, but the car run as before.
  11. There vil be no difrence in the driving, but you have to sheck if there is oil in the catch can and take out the oil before the can is full.
  12. I put a Oilcatch can on mine, but maybe this is an US problem due to bad gasoline over there.
  13. I flushed my 250 vitout the cleaning agent, this was advised by the leader of the Lexus workshop that did the job, the reason for the advise was tha since the car had wery high milage 250000km, he was afraid that there could come parts from the cleaning that vould be Stock in a solenoid. i folowed the advise and the gearbox respond better and no problem so far.
  14. Dont use the cleaning/Flushing agent, only use the oil, the cleaning agent can make smal parts to slip and make problems. have done a Flushing on my 250, recomended.
  15. I flushed my car at 250000Km, not because something was wrong but i felt it was the right thing to do with the miliage in mind, i got the car back from Flushing and i did’nt find anything to notice in the first place, maybe a little smother but can be placebo, so the snow came and i have a hill with a sharp bend that i have to be careful to not slide out with the rear end, last winter the car startet to rattle in the turn(the only place i make this happen) , same as you force a manual car up hill on to high gear, this winter the gearbox gear down and i am not getting this rattle to start at all. I am very sure that the car would have last a long time with the old oil inside, but the gearbox is better with new oil inside. is It worth it? The cars is much more expensive in Norway than UK and therefor a Flushing cost is easier to deal with in Norway, and maybe a secondhand Lexus buyer in Norway have a little better sallary than a UK buyer.
