  1. Well I'm 3 weeks into my latest RX having previously had a 2005 SEL (air suspension went belly up at 61K miles). P/exed 5 years ago for a 2012 Advance (Lexus Bolton). Brilliantly reliable but always had an interior rattle somewhwere that I couldn't remedy. Now into a 2018 with 36K on the clock in blue with light interior and opening pan roof (again Lexus Bolton). So lost £9.5k over 5 years against the latest version but oh boy haven't they gone up in price never mind the impact of higher road tax at £510.00. But having toyed with the idea of a Range Rover and Porsche there was always something about the uniqueness of a Lexus that drew me back. Apart from the air con which needs a regass and a few marks that I'll sort out in due course she's a beauty and feels like a step up in class, which I guess you'd expect. My old RK was so tidy that it's up for sale with Lexus Bolton at a £4.5k premium over the p/x price. Hey ho. there you go. Oh and for the first time I've taken a 3 year Lexus service plan having used a very trustworthy independent across the Penninesup to now..Time will tell if that proves to be the right decision.
  2. Isn't that green?.................Oh just the colour of my envy! Looks a beauty.
  3. Be thankful that the air suspension has been removed. There was only a marginal gain in ride from having it and the cost of repair if it goes belly up (which it may have done hence the coil overs) would have been eye watering on a car of that age. Looks a well cared for example by the way.
  4. I say don't buy with air unless you are prepared to convert to springs down the line or pay to replace each corner strut at around £700 each (new)when they go wrong and that's without the compressor which can pack in (£2k ish). I am only speaking from personal experience as my previous SEL air went belly up at 61k miles. If I had done my research beforehand I wouldn't have gone down the air route. Hindsight is a wonderful thing. No doubt others will follow with examples of their air suspension still going strong at whatever mileage. You pays your money............................
  5. Dave Wrigley(ex Lexus) at Lex-Tek autos in Wales,Sheffield. Close enough for you. Last 4 services done by him and used by other members on here.
  6. Just done my rear with Gorilla glue. Slap it on and prop it up with a couple of pieces of wood until it sets (around 2 hours). Just done 1K miles since in all weathers and still intact.
  7. Yes just had Bridgestones fitted 'on the drive' for £112.50 each all in.
  8. Like a good few stories on this forum I had a 300 SE L(2005) for nearly 3 years and the air suspension started playing up at 61K miles so it went in p/x for my current 450h thankfully without air.If I had the time again I would not go down this route as the worry of if and when it may go wrong over arched the pleasure of owning the car. No doubt there are cars out there without this problem and there is always the default to convert to standard coils if it goes wrong but it would not be for me.Just my thoughts. You pays your money...................
  9. Lex-tekautos Sheffield. Last 2 annual services done on my 450h and good price as well as great service. Dave is ex Lexus and knows his stuff.Ask nicely and he will provide a courtesy car (Mk l rx300 ) then drive down the road to the country park and spend a few hours round the lakes in a lovely setting.Check his website for contact details.
  10. I know this has been mentioned in the past and it was from a previous post that I have used the following garage for my last 2 annual services. I can strongly recommend Dave at Lex-tekautos south of Sheffield. He had worked for 20 years at Lexus and has just serviced my 450h (plugs/ changed oil with filter/ pollen & air filters/rear brake pads) for a smidgen short of £400. If you're looking for an alternative give him a call.
  11. When I p/exed my 2005 RX300 sel (air suspension playing up) for an RX450 at Lexus Bolton 2 years ago, the 300 went to Moses Gate and went up for sale at twice the price of the p/x value.I presume it was sold as it was no longer advertised before they stopped trading They had quite a few Lexus advertised at the same time at prices that seemed to be beyond what the market as a whole was asking. It seems that this is the case with Stellar Motors. You pays your money................
