  1. In hindsight probably. But that's the disadvantage of having a Lexus as it's always the first choice and have covered over 20k miles in in less time than the 6K in the MG. Oh well.......it's only money!
  2. Regarding MG. Had previously leased cars for my wife, the last one being a Mazda CX5. When the rental term came to an end during the latter days of Covid and when any 2nd hand car was fetching silly money the only new car (apart from a Hyundai i10) was a solitary top range MGZS auto on PCP with 0%. So either do without or go for the MG. So some years later it's still here having covered less than 6k miles and it's not a bad car.The steering is precise, the sat nav and heated seats are good, it's shod with Michelins and has been reliable. Will I pay the £9.5k option to buy? I really don't know. But as a cheapish runaround it's been fine.
  3. Youtuber has a 3 year old porsche taycan (electric) and paid over £100k new. Went back to the same main porsche dealer as he fancied a p/x against a new 911. 'Sorry sir we have too many Taycans in stock we can't sell so no we won't take a p/x'. On enquiring if they could how much would his car be worth 'around £42K sir'. When asked what would happen if his battery fails 'well that would be £42k plus £7k labour' Do the maths on that one.
  4. Yes sounds like faulty injector I had replaced under warranty and all has been fine since,
  5. I've got a new Yokohama on one rear (brand new with 2 of the same up front) and a Bridgestone on the other rear.(still 4mm tread left). The Yokohamas were fitted by Lexus and no mention of having different makes, so I guess that's OK with me.
  6. Have a look at Good Motors in Bury who seem to have a regular stock of various Lexus models at any one time. Never used them myself but I would think they are picking up p/ex cars from main dealers. Obviously main dealer is preferred but just an option.
  7. My 450 is in Lexus Liverpool today for 6 year service. Got a service plan to ease the cost. Phone call to say I need 3 new tyres (I had already been pricing up in advance). I've gone for Yokohama sport 235 55 r20 at £180 each on the car when the best price I could find independently was £169. Not bad methinks given the care needed over the TPMS valves. Moving from Bridgestones as had the Yokohamas on the wife's CX5 and thought they were very good. Got a ux250h fsport until Monday. Lexus Liverpool are very good.
  8. No but you can get the online at ebay. I've got one on my side window. £4 if I remember correctly.
  9. Just renewed RX with AA who I was with last year (due 20th Jan) for £734 (12000 miles, £200 excess). Up from £411 last year but the cheapest I could find by at least £200. In fact better than I had expected despite the massive % increase, Coincidentally my wifes' insurance is due on the same date. Rang AA who were again quoting the lowest price on comparison sites (£413.00 with 6000 miles,£300 excess and son as a second named driver) and was hoping for a 2nd car discount. That'll be £1030 sir. Work that one out if you can. Other dual policy companies were off the scale stupid.
  10. National Tyres. 20% off using code. 4 fitted 235 55 20 r102v equates to £186.00 each.
  11. Had mine fitted by Lexus Liverpool this morning after initially contacting Lexus customer relations direct to request installation.'Yours is the first one we have done as they are being rolled out within the M25 but only on request elsewhere'.
  12. Agree, if it's not in the servicing schedule give it a miss.
  13. Just done mine with Start Rescue (3 star policy) which doesn't include European cover but seems pretty comprehensive for what I want and at £31.70 and a Which recommended rating, well certainly less than the £155 LRA invitation which has gone in the bin.
  14. Now on my 3rd RX (bought 12 months ago) and the first time I have taken out a Lexus service plan. Previously I had taken my MK3 across the Pennines to Lex-Tec autos near Sheffield and have nothing but praise for Dave Wrigley for the work he has done. I would not hesitate to go back there for any work and recommend him to anyone looking for a top class independent. After all he is ex Lexus Sheffield. Anyway, when I started to look at the costs of 3 like for like services, I calculated that it would cost me around £300 more for the Lexus service plan (price guaranteed) based upon the same intermediate and major services that had been done on my MK3. Now those cost comparisons were based on a number of factors including cost of petrol to get to Sheffield, paying for a seperate hybrid health check, full price MOT and so on and the Relax warranty. I guess the point here is that if you are considering which to choose, Lexus or independent, then do your sums if you can and see which works best for you. Now back to the shed painting!
  15. Had my car in at Lexus Liverpool yesterday, who have been great, for its' MOT (no advisories) and a new injector (under warranty) and had the use of the new NX350h for the day. I liked it very much but will stick with the RX for now as we need the extra rear room for ferrying loads of grandkids around. However, to the point. There have been a number of posts over the years asking what make of tyres are best. Well this NX was shod with YokohamasI, noticed the new RX on 21" wheels shod with Michelin and my own originally with Bridgestones and know of others shod with Dunlops from new. I guess the point here is if the manufacturer (may be down the the best deal they get at the time) uses these makes then it's down to individual preference (and price) when it's time to renew. Having Yokohama on my wife's CX5 I think that's the way I'll go next time around and being £30 a corner cheaper helps. You can tell I've nothing better to do other than off now to paint the shed.

  17. Weird stuff happens. Took my car in for annual service at Lexus last Friday and hadn't gone far enough forward in the parking bay so decided to switch on and move forward. When I pressed the starter button up popped a message 'hybrid system inoperative'. Switched off and restarted and moved forward and all OK. Went into service reception and said what had happened and a note was made on the service schedule for the technician to check over. Collected the car in the afternoon with a full hybrid pass and a need to go back again for a faulty injector (under Warranty). Weird stuff happens.
  18. Just put the 'X' sign above on the gantry above which should then create a hard shoulder. Unless I'm missing something.
  19. Had to take both keys to Lexus on my MK4 for that very same feeling that the case was going to crack when twisting open with the key. Slightly embarrassing when the young lady technician popped them open without a second thought. Still £8 well spent for peace of mind.
  20. See the Bangers & Cash mug in the background. A good programme to while away an hour or so.
