It’s like why do men still have nipples? 😯 My dad had a Maserati without a gear stick - just the buttons cribbed from the Ferrari F430 - and it never felt quite right. So I guess it’s just what (probably American) buyers in this sector “expect” rather than any other reason.

This is coming as a company car purchase via Arval so I very much doubt I’ll get any goodies unfortunately. Yes, it is coming from Lexus Newcastle, they’ve been fantastic throughout the whole process - in fact the business manager remembered me from when we bought a 3 series cab from them and from when I had my Porsche MOT-ed there about 5 years ago! Given the 10,000 mile service interval they won’t forget me as I’ll be there every 6 months. Bloody hell Richard - no pressure 😂 I’m making no promises but never say never (I don’t even know how to post pics on here)

If it looks half as good as that then I shall be very happy indeed!

Popped into Lexus Newcastle to find out when my car will be here - 12th November so not long now. The salesman told me that they were looking forward to seeing it and taking some photos for other dealers and potential customers to look at as they haven’t done any other in that colour combo. I asked whether that was to show them in a good way or a bad way, and was told he wasn’t sure yet until he saw it in the metal. I’ve gone for a “Superman” spec of an F Sport in Azure Blue with Flare Red interior - whether I turn up for collection with my pants on top of my trousers or not remains to be seen 🙂

What does this cable do that Bluetooth doesn’t?

I saw an F Sport in white with the flare red interior at a car show and it convinced me to change my base spec for an F sport. Dithered between the white and the bright blue for ages but settled on the bright blue with red interior and the tech/safety pack. Just got to wait for it to arrive now! Dealers told me that’s the only one they’ve ordered in that colour combo so its either exclusive or I’m bonkers - my daughter is already calling it “superman spec”

Ordered an ES in basic spec in April and was told December delivery, then went back to change my order to an F-Sport with Tech pack in late May and was told that my original order has been progressed to October but the new one would now be March 2020!!! This then went back to April 2020, then forward to December 2019 and I’ve now been told mid-November so fingers crossed.

I had a 24h test drive from the dealer and then Toyota UK gave me a press car for a week (admittedly it took them a month to process my test drive request and I’d already ordered it by then but still accepted their offer). The touchpad was a bugbear at first but I got used to it, counter-intuitively if you turn the sensitivity up to the highest setting then it is much easier to use with just a flick of the finger rather than a wave of the arm. Doors open very wide, that was a concern and consideration for me as due to my job I’m always parking in different public car parks with their worryingly narrow bays. USB was annoying underneath the front cover, I tend to stream Spotify via Bluetooth so just left my phone on the wireless charge pad in the armrest and the car interface was actually pretty good once you get used to it.

That’s great news - I ordered my F Sport ES in April and am still being told mid-November for dealer delivery!

Hi, New member here. I’ve got an ES coming into Newcastle Lexus in mid November so am very interested in the CarPlay situation. I emailed them this morning to ask for any further info and was told that they hadn’t heard anything about CarPlay coming to the ES yet. Looking at the Spanish info above, it looks like I’d be eligible for an update next year so fingers crossed and I’ll see what turns up! I'm really looking forward to the car arriving, I had a 24 hour test drive from the dealership in a base spec car and then a press car delivered for a week that was base spec plus premium pack. I still haven’t seen one on the roads yet and the dealership haven’t done another one in my spec so it may be quite unique 😆
