  1. I have a 2007 SC and mine has a lift up half moon piece of foam which contains the tyre inflator and sealant. Without this in place a space saver tyre could be fitted vertically but this would impinge upon the already limited boot space. I believe a 2006 model year will have the 6 speed automatic box.
  2. Thanks for that Steve. Sure is a wake up call that we should check prices before blindly lining the pockets of Lexus UK.
  3. Thank goodness I bought slides pistons, seals etc etc from elsewhere if there is little sense or fairness in Lexus parts pricing!
  4. They should be gold plated at that price! I asked him again because I thought he had got the wrong part or he was joking with me!!
  5. Great idea Stewart but in 1992 due to the price of copper they became copper plated!
  6. Thanks Stewart I have used brakes International and including postage it was less than a fiver for washers (Size is 10mm) for front and rear! Shame on you Lexus charging your customers over £40!
  7. I am about to upgrade and service my front brakes with new discs, pads and strip down, including refurbish and painting of the calipers. I therefore need to remove the clamp and remove the front flexihose and thought it would be good practice to replace the copper washers. I have just rung Lexus Leeds and was quoted £8.95 + vat for each copper washer that's a total of £42.96!!!! Am I out of touch with prices?
  8. Hi Neil Thanks for the pictures. The buttons are not there so it was probably rough treatment by a previous owner. It looks like remove the two grub screws and the unit detaches and only needs unplugging. Thanks, Anthony
  9. Thanks Neil, that explained that 👍
  10. Hi guys, help required. Has anyone had experience of working on the take call and end call buttons on the multiswich housing on the steering column? These two buttons are missing on my car: Can just the buttons be replaced? Is it more complicated than pushing them on? Can they be bought individually or is it a complete unit?
  11. Hi Rich, why buy genuine Lexus parts?
  12. Live the dream mate, I did and it was everything I hoped for!
  13. Hi Gedwood Dont worry, they are E10 compatible and I have been using it for some time without any concerns. Hi Hybrid It looks like you have found a lovely example, shame the weather is deteriorating but next year you will love having the top down. Anthony
  14. Hi Stewart There is a great utube video of a guy replacing his zenons and partially removing the bumper to gain access. Included is step by step guide which I copied from the tv and found accurate and easy to follow. I had to fully remove the bumper but that was an easy further step and was only required to renew the fog light bulbs. You obviously know how inaccessible the headlight bulbs and ballasts are but it is expensive to do a full bulb upgrade including ballasts. I wanted to improve the light quality with my upgrade but I left the zenons and ballasts as they were. Good luck and let us know how you get on. Anthony
  15. Give it a go, you would get discount and the result would be interesting to many SC owners!
  16. I think that as soon as they realise the amount of work required they will be asking for more money. I replaced upgraded my main beam, sidelights and fog light bulbs and although time consuming it was withing the capabilities of most diyers but have 2nd person to help support its removal and refitting.
  17. It was so easy to use, I sprayed it on a microfiber cloth rather than the glass to stop overspray. It cleaned dirt particles on the glass off well and also the more stubborn bits by the seals. It wiped off really easy leaving clean and reflective glass....and smelled nice! Top notch in my book, I think Nemesis has the right idea, find a good product and buy in bulk to reduce its cost!
  18. I have just used Maguiars Glass Cleaner and after trying several different ones I think this one in my opinion is the best!
  19. After watching several utube clips I plucked up the courage and pulled my car into the garage to upgrade the main beam bulb, sidelight bulb and the front foglight bulbs with LED's. I had replaced the os main beam and sidelight bulbs the previous day and this was done by removing the air filter box. No such luck on the ns because the box which houses the ecu is on that side and I did not feel confident to remove that! I enlisted the help of one of my neighbours who is a fellow petrolhead and between us the process required the full removal of the bumper mainly to allow access to replace the foglight bulbs. I could also remove a fly which had decides to expire in the nearside headlight! The removal and refit of the bumper went well, just many screws, bolts and clips to remember where they went. The result looked really good and improved the power of the lights. No error codes or any other problems encountered. Quote RReport
  20. Once again I have visited Halfords in Huddersfield where they kept me waiting for ages before begrudgingly giving me the discount. Halfords staff state that we should be given a discount code by LOC when we pay our membership and staff could just put this into their till and it would appropriate the correct discount. She went on to say this is what other owners clubs like Ford do. It feels so much hassle that I think I will use somewhere else or just not ask in future.
  21. I have seen the majority of it but could not listen to the full thing because he was assessing a non standard early model, there were so many errors in his knowledge of the vehicle and displays of his personal feelings. Anyway we, the educated know better!
  22. Sounds a great car, I understand what you mean about the SC but it took me until I was 60 to afford one! Let us know your improvements or upgrades and please post some pics, we would all like to see it!
  23. There is a good utube clip that describes the disconnection process which Neil quite rightly says may have been done. Good luck and let us know how you get on!
  24. Thanks Steve I thought about that and after a good 5 mins was not hot so I think they are ok. Fortunately the mirrors are only opened for short spells but still looking for LED's in the correct size if anyone has a link
  25. I have fitted led replacement rear flasher bulbs to the rear and despite being the best quality canbus etc etc they needed resistors fitting to stop all indicators flashing rapidly. I feel the exercise was worth it they certainly have a more modern look to the light being omitted.
