  1. I'm old enough to remember Consul's too, of the various models I think this was the best!
  2. Hi, I'm from Holmfirth near Huddersfield in Yorkshire. At 61 years old I have finally got the car of my dreams, a SC430, 2007, 84k in silver with ivory trim. It's not perfect but it is beautiful to me and it is part of my enjoyment to upgrade, improve and even repair things on it. My son Tom (Lexiguy Junior) is a petrolhead like me and loves working on it and riding in it. A bonus is he can still squeeze in the back for family runs. I enjoy meeting other SC enthusiasts and recently attended the meeting near Sleaford where over 30 SC's turned up! In Huddersfield there are two more SC's and I have made a point of speaking to their owners.
  3. Sounds great! From the 3rd cat is that two straight pipes with no boxes in them?
  4. Thanks Neil Do you know, have they always been the same or are there different options? Need to know before contacting a breakers 😁
  5. Hi Steve That sounds great! Is that replacement from the 3rd cat back with two straight pipes and no boxes? What are slash tailpipes?
  6. Hi Steve It's good to hear that you have gone for the 2021 version and it worked! Well nearly. I was only brave enough to go for the 2017/2018 version believing any newer version would not play on my 2007 vehicle. It will be interesting to see how this one pans out, hopefully a clever guy can switch on the extra knowledge it contains. Please keep us informed.
  7. Hi Stewart Yes the rubber brake pipes need clamping off but this only stops brake fluid loss from the clamp down. You will need to top up, I used almost a litre but as the pistons were replaced which needs more fluid and they required bleeding twice before they were perfect! I have heard negative comments about braided hoses so you need to investigate them fully first. Also if you replace these the vehicle will need the brakes bleeding all round. This is no bad thing because you could do a brake fluid change at the same time. Which could improve performance if your current fluid has absorbed a quantity moisture. I am going to do the rears on my car and I will definitely do a fluid flush an fluid change!
  8. The job finished and they perform as good as they look!
  9. Calipers and carriers finished!
  10. Or possibly, my brothers car needs welding!
  11. Nah then lad, wot dust tha mean bi that?
  12. I think Bo was referring to the unwritten rule on here that if there are no pics it didn't happen!!! 😁
  13. Remember the rule.....no pictures it didn't happen!!! 😆
  14. Heated spray booth....Yorkshire style!!
  15. Roy and I are grey not blonde!!
  16. I'm all excited because tomorrow is the day I replace discs and pads with a full caliper refurb and paint. I am hoping I will then lose the annoying click from the front end when going slow downhill but starting to brake.
  17. Thanks Roy, you learn something every day! 🧐 "A very nice car to see" Steve why do you feel the need to message in German when you come from deepest Derbyshire!!! You aren't going all BMW on us are you? 😂
  18. ... .. and you think you're not biased? 🤣😂🤣
  19. Fantastic looking car...terrific colour! But I could be biased.
  20. Hi Stewart So yours looks like it has a single back box is that correct? I have seen some with cat back and small boxes on both sides at the back, under the boot area. I am wanting it to be conservative when driving slowly but when it's given some gun I want it to sound like an animal!!! Is yours like that or how did you select the sound you wanted? Yes there is Tony Banks in Leeds and also Keltec which was set up by an ex employee of Tony Banks, both appear to have a good reputation.
  21. Hi Steve Can you send a picture of the work you had done, cost and who did it. Sounds like a few SC owners would be interested 😁
  22. Like Neil said, there are significant specification changes depending on build date and vehicle destination. I believe that the UK was the only country who were unfortunate enough to be given runflats as standard spec! The majority of vehicles have now changed from them to better alternatives! I suppose the best thing to do is to thoroughly check any potential purchase because even supplying garages don't know the spec. I was told mine did not have Bluetooth telephone but it does! I gambled believing it did and sure enough it did have it. I would say to anyone searching for an SC, just have fun in the search!
  23. I believe small variations in specifications are linked with the destination where the vehicle is being marketed. We look at changes from our spec whereas you will possibly look at different aspects of the car. You are obviously observant of the boot and spare wheel provision. I am aware of the change in rear bumper (number plate area shorter in length to accept a square plate and no preperation for rear fog guard lamps) and addition of indicators in the sides of front and rear bumpers in the American spec. Also changes in the Japanese spec around sat nav etc. I'm sure others will have noted other things!
