  1. In order to reduce everyone’s insurance premium and deter even the attempt of the theft this plate needs to be fitted to every car vulnerable to it. If Lexus only fit to 50% then there is still a 50/50 chance for a criminal to make it worthwhile so they will still try. It’s only when it becomes not worth their time that they will stop. I now realise why LV would not insure my RX without a tracker 2 years ago when they were happy to insure my XC90 which was more expensive and a faster car
  2. Thanks all, sounds like I am not missing anything obvious. Smaller less space etc I havent driven a new RX I know if I did I would be temped but I do want a smaller car and there is not much difference in speficication/luxury from the new NX to my current RX . It is a shame manufacturers dont put the same effort into their smaller cars as they do their top of the range ones.
  3. I am a little on the larger side so not sure those seats would be comfortable long term 🙂
  4. Thanks all just got a specification printout from the dealer, heated rear seats are not mentioned nor adaptive damping on the Takumi spec. Seems a few items in the manual are not fitted currently, maybe they are using limited parts for the RX ML Stereo is now back on the Takumi !
  5. Thanks, I dont want a new RX as the new one whilst better is larger and more expensive. Downsize or keep are the options here. I just noticed that the NX for example does not have heated rear seats.
  6. Hi, I am looking to change my 2021 RX to an NX450h (both Takumi), has anyone done this move and had any regrets or a member of family, if so what were they. I like the NX a lot but concious I may have overlooked something Thanks David
  7. From what I have heard canbus attack causes a lot of damage as they break wheel arch and presumably hack into loom. I know of a rav 4 that was stolen then recovered and damage was in excess of 1000
  8. There is a thread on the RX for this as well. RAV4, RX nightly stolen. Does anyone know if the new NX has the same vulnerability ?
  9. Does that also mean the new NX is on a different security platform as well? yes it’s a globally manufactured car but this exploit is being used in at least one other country. Let’s hope they come up with a solution soon
  10. Thanks for this, it is a slightly longer version of the one I received by email but some paragraphs are identical. I was going to ask if there would be any contribution to a secondary immobiliser. The RAV 4 has a similar vulnerability, I am not sure if the new NX is the same
  11. Thanks I will let you know what I get back. I did mention about selling the car and moving to a brand that takes security seriously. I was looking at an NX next but who knows what this may be vulnerable to.
  12. I also send an email to customer relations today as this is worrying me. I actually took my wife’s car when going out at the weekend as didn’t want to come back to no car and 100 miles at home. It’s concerning that Lexus with all their engineering ability answer is to buy a steering lock.
  13. Hi, looking at opinions of people who have moved from RX450h to NX450h as I am due to downsize (RX large, smaller family etc). I test drive one at the weekend, drivewise car seems to be a little slower (battery empty) not as smooth (no V6) and not quite as comfortable but not a massive amount in either of them. I think the colour options are mostly meh whereas the RX I do like, but appreciate thats mostly personal. Techwise much improved, night and day. What do those that have moved think after using for a while, any regrets or things you preferred in the RX. Thanks
  14. I came from an XC90 T8 which had a 0-60 around 5.3 seconds and would give you a kick in the back as it changed gear at 60 but I don’t find the RX slow. Just put in sport if you need especially fast acceleration then back to normal. Even in normal it’s ok. Fuel consumption between 33 and 38 depending on journey. as others have said ask for another test drive to make sure you are happy
  15. I thought the 2020 Rx had Android Auto i use this in my RX which works well but does seem to work best with Android 11 and above https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/aawireless#/ Just be wary of how quick your battery may drain. My S22 ultra will drain quicker than it can charge on the wireless charging pad so have to plug in anyway on long journeys. My old P30 was ok but did drop connection with the device occasionally (android 10 issue I believe)
  16. There are a few annoyances, Cruise control will run away downhill then complain about it The beeping from tailgate, why it beeps to tell you when you pressed the button I don’t know, if it was from inside the car I could understand. That the stereo goes off with the ignition (previous Volvo would stay on until the door was opened) Whilst the hybrid system is far from rubbish I would love to see the version IV hybrid system with the V6, having seen it in others cars it is far superior My main dislike is the infotainment which is clunky and the scrolling down a list just awful.
  17. I managed to get a puncture on a Boxing Day, Costco said they couldn’t fix it (and didn’t charge me) and suggested I buy a new one, they have only done 4,000 miles so fairly new. Looking to get a replacement I haven’t been able to find one anywhere. It came with Dunlop sport max 050 on size 235/55/20 102V. These seem impossible to get anywhere, as couldn’t even find the size on Dunlop site. Will be a call to the dealer tomorrow but I have never struggled to get a tyre before. May end up with 2 new ones which I could do without spending the money on. Has anyone else had problems with replacements, what do you normallly do?
  18. Agree it’s smaller than tankers BT and delivery vans, but normally they aren’t the ones reversing due to size and lack of visibility for them. In some cases the RX was to long to fit into the passing places. Driving forward is no problem but meet something coming the other way and having to reverse 1/4 of a mile can be challenging.
  19. Thanks for the comparison. My RX is my first Lexus and I love it however due to family moving on we are likely to downsize at some point and the NX will be on my list. NX will also be easier to drive down the narrow lanes in Devon when we go there. It was not fun having to reverse a quarter of a mile down a narrow lane with beeping from all sides. But having said that my RX is one of the few cars I appear to have become emotionally attached even after only 3,000 miles. regarding the fuel consumption I am getting around the same as you but I have noticed 60mph seems to give much better fuel consumption that at 70 if you have the time.
  20. Just an update as Lexus customer service have responded and said the car will not break when going downhill if it exceeds the set speed limit and they have no plans to introduce it. It’s a shame as all the equipment is already installed for this and seems most other premium brands already do this.
  21. Thanks all, I am in Adaptive CC, will see what the dealer comes back with when he has spoken to the tech people.
  22. My old Volvo and friends other cars (VW) break when on cruise control and going downhill to maintain the speed. My RX does do that and will keep going until gravity or I break which I believe is wrong. If I set say 30mph and go down a hill the cars speed will increase, however if I change the CC speed on stork to 25 then the car will break I have logged a call with Lexus about this and had a phone call with the service manager who said it cant break as that would disengage the CC. I have advised him that the radar breaking and changing the speed of the CC does cause it to break and it is only pressing the break that will turn off the CC so why doesnt the car break on its own. I feel this is a software problem, has anyone else noticed this or raised this with their dealer ?
  23. I was using the adaptive high beam for the first time yesterday, it worked very well but I noticed when I was driving at 40mpg in a dark area the shaded high beams didn't turn on. The manual refers to 38mpg but mine weren't on until about 41. Does anyone know if these can be changed (there doesn't seem to be anything in the manual) but I wondered if there was a third party way to change the settings Thanks
  24. Hi i may have missed this in the manual. The current Rx450 doesn’t have a B for engine breaking or a low gear/being a cvt so what is the recommended way to drive down very steep hills ? thanks
