  1. Crazy weather here, on target for our hottest day ever early next week
  2. I was worried about the speaker setup, I had the 800W Meridian surround in my previous XF which was fantastic, far better than the BO and HK in previous Audi and Mazda. I took a 10 spk Pioneer out for a quick drive round the corner and played some of my tunes through my phone before buying, I thought I really wanted the ML and to be honest if money was unlimited I probably would have upgraded. I was driving back from a day in the office last night, sunroof open, Queen playing at full level and I am quite happy, yes it hasn’t got the bass in my back from giant subs, or the centre speaker to lock vocals ahead of me, but from the front seats it has plenty to give, I say front seats as the pioneer setup is very front biased. my suggestion, go and give one a try with your fav tracks, you might be pleasantly surprised, it is more like a mid upgraded premium system in a peer rather than a bog standard setup like the Germans give out of the factory.
  3. As well as rattles, any other wobbly bits? my shark fin is not on tight and has some movement, plus the plastic threshold the bodycolour bit you step over to get in has way too much flex in it for my liking.
  4. I have joined the 60+ club this week on a short journey on which I met a blue Fsport in the opposite direction near Aylesbury. Aiming for 65 now.
  5. That is the same as I paid Milton Keynes back in December for my front and rear setup before collection. I looked at it once to make sure working and have forgotten about them ever since. They have no built in screen so you have to connect them to your phone to view which make’s downloading clips so much easier then my old SD card into the laptop setup
  6. Insurances for paint and dashcam (I also have both) are dealer fit options paid for after delivery and registration when you pick up the car. They are not part of the list price or factory added options such as paint etc, and therefore are not included in your on the road price.
  7. Wireless CarPlay eats battery life, so if you don’t have a wireless charging phone, you still have to plug it in on a longish journey
  8. I too quite enjoy a cd and have also sat and watched Queen live dvd whilst waiting. I wouldn’t miss the touch pad but do like having the old school analogue clock.
  9. Also, it may come down to model issues, for example is their a delay for ML audio chips or maybe a delay on a particular colour interior? Or the ventilated seating? if their is a particular external supplier involved, the delay could be longer
  10. Great review and I agree with all the comments above, I came from Jag XF R sport and previous Merc 320CLS. Compared to the Jag the ES doesn’t like to be thrown around and the meridian sound I still think is the best available, but apart from that I am not missing anything. Acceleration is almost the same, fuel economy is the same (although XF was diesel, so bad for environment and expensive) and quality can’t be beaten, I am no longer worried about how much it might cost if something breaks. The CLS was quick between the roundabouts but handled like a tanker and I kept seeing them everywhere I went and normally driven (sorry to be ageist) men twice my age who would wave at me. I still haven’t seen another ES on the road (in the UK) I also agree with the design comments, I too love the Maserati and was looking for a good one before the Jag, I was even more worried though about repair bills though.
  11. Did look at both and others, which is better though the big floppy chenille type or the micro fibre ones
  12. Will look out for a wash mitten for next time and give it a go
  13. Before I get comments on being wasteful, the sponge then gets downgraded to my wife’s car next time out and then used on the wheels before ending its life on garden furniture. Likewise the micro cloth is washed and reused many times indoors in kitchen/bathrooms etc
  14. Thanks, I only use a cheap demon foam wash and a new sponge every time, allow to air dry and then a quick spray with the Meguiars and gentle wipe with a new micro cloth. With regards to micro scratches, is the self healing paint a real thing on these?
  15. After returning from my annual Orlando trip where I saw more ES on the road in 3 weeks than I have ever seen in the UK. I find the local wildlife have been using my car for target practice. Today is one of those days where I remember why I chose Mesa red. A quick rinse and detail makes me happy again.
  16. If anyone wants to pay off my PCP early then I am quite happy to be part of an experiment
  17. Plastic I would say, I had mine on my drivers door replaced just a week after collection at Christmas, due to some scratches I saw on collection, very quick and easily done
  18. Having an engine running in an unoccupied, unattended vehicle is illegal in the UK which is why it is not available (think US it is a double press on the door lock button on key) full electric vehicles get around this obviously. If their is a hack to enable on UK spec I would be very interested though.
  19. As mentioned before job makes a big difference I remember an old top gear episode where they all had to be new drivers on their mums cars (I think) they lied about their age, s*x and jobs to get massively reduced insurance quote sales and sports people get an increased premium. Also taking a leaf out of Martin Lewis book. Always get your quotes and deals 30+ days before the old one runs out. Leaving it until a few days before shows you to be a higher risk person in the algorithm in general and the premium will be higher
  20. Unfortunately not any more, I used to get a car allowance and 25p in my last job, but I was doing lots and lots of miles in my XF. I now work for a social enterprise selling a software product so 99% of my time is on Zoom calls now
  21. Looks like I am still too young to get a good deal 🤪 I forgot to mention I also put work use on as well for the once a month I might visit a client. The type of work you do also adds to your premium
  22. Interesting, so I’m not far off, and I know everything in the world has gone up by at least 10% this year anyway
  23. Hi quite difficult I know as it all depends on many factors I am closer to 50 than 40, off street parking, full no claims, driving for over 25 years, less than 8k miles a year new quotes this year are around £500, fully comp anybody else of similar description getting anything better reason I’m asking is my 5yr old XF, 10 groups higher was the same price last year, so I was hoping for at least 10% better
  24. And the fact that the arms protrude into boot space in fact the whole boot is annoying without the fold down seats I know it’s because of batteries, but they could fold down anyway even if it leaves the lip. They could actually have a lift up floor that makes the whole lot flat.
  25. With the price of petrol at the moment, that is half their profit margin. No wonder the retail price has gone up again, it’s to cover the cost of a full tank of fuel on delivery, 😂
