  1. Supposed be really good that, would have it on a new car but not my old car, too expensive. Guy at work just paid £250 to have it done on his new motor from the dealer. Think the salt on the roads recently has exasperated the issue. Never seemed so bad last year. Aluminium hates salt water. Remember having a new motorbike years ago and going out one day in winter without cleaning it off afterwards properly. The aluminium swingarm looked a mess, like pitting from the salt.
  2. Cleaned the marks off yesterday, had resort to using turtle wax cutting compound. No expert, but cant be doing this every month, will end up with no paint left on door lol. I've not cleaned the car for maybe 6 weeks, no choice now but to go out with a sponge and bucket at least once a week, just in that spot to keep the stains off. Blasted gap under mirror with water best i could but likely wont help much. Have some car carnauba wax so give it a coat in that area. See how it goes.
  3. I think the streak is just coming down with the rain. Tcut and polished the car with expensive wax, it was bone dry Ps, dont know why my text is underlined lol
  4. You know what, i was thinking there was more to it. Was thinking a bolt or something in the mirror was corroding I say that because even after cleaning and tcut, it comes back. Going to need Tcut yet again. Think i will just have to wipe down the car every week under the mirror
  5. Actually had to T-cut this mark off a few times Drip from mirror Anyone sorted it out?
  6. If the exhaust on mine does go then i don't want to be throwing lots of money into a replacement, just something that sounds the same and looks the same from the back end. Just to get whatever time i have left with the car, not sure exactly how long that my be.
  7. Anyone on a 2007 still with all original exhaust system ?, just curious.
  8. Sounds good, Mine just passed its MOT, no advisories. Glad i sorted the rust on the anti-roll bar and coated with black wax oil, reckon i might have got picked on with that sooner or later.
  9. Aye, I know the full on gearbox flush is expensive. from memory over £400. Perhaps that let some out and put some in routine might make more financial sense, just to get some newer oil in the box
  10. Out of curiosity. Anyone know of any disasters with the gearbox by not changing the oil?, i cant remember reading any here or elsewhere regarding this Lexus. I changed it once in a GS300 but then sold it anyways a year later, so in that respect threw money away. Brother has a 1989 Mercedes Auto, that's still running fine on original oil🙂
  11. 95,000 miles I'm on now, not 90,000, i got that wrong. Will look at the gearbox oil change, sooner rather than later. Cheers.
  12. Hello, i think the spark plugs were changed, as the ones that are in don't seem to have any issues. I likely will do the transmission etc fluid at some point but at the moment there are no issues there either. Saying that though, i would say even without a flush the gearbox would last me for time i have left with the car. I only do about 5000 miles a year. Il see. I have read of the stalling issue on here, when engine is cold. Its a very minor niggle at the moment. I cant remember what it is but if it got worse id look more into it.
  13. Had the car nearly two years now and here's the list of issues................... NONE 90,000 miles, no advisories on last MOT, next MOT is due soon. Full service history. Only money spent was new front grille and new back brakes plus an oil and filter service. A slight intermittent issue is that on a very rare occasion the car stalls when its cold, usually when turning out of the works car park. Not going further with this as its so rare. One other minor issue which did cost me a new battery. Moved the car off the drive without letting the engine continue running. The car would not start the next day. Eventually it did. This is an issue that happens with other cars too, so now i don't do that. Plan on keeping the car until something goes seriously expensively wrong, hope that's a long way off, touch wood. Find the car very reliable and to be honest, quite cheap to run. Fast enough for me, a pleasant commute 20 miles a day. No rust apart from the front anti roll bar, that was sorted out. Still feels like a new car to drive. Sometimes see cheap lease deals but then think what's the point
  14. At those prices, think i just wouldn't fix it. Its not Arizona, took aircon out of 2 cars in the past and not really missed it.
  15. I kick myself for not buying a GTR R32 when i should have done. You could find decent ones for £6500 Now it just makes me cry lol Wasn't meant to be.
  16. Does anyone know how long an original exhaust can last ? Mines a 2010 and looks in really good condition. touch wood .
  17. Hoping the is250 will be one of those cars that don't seem to die. Hate spending money on cars nowadays and dont see the point in splashing out lots on a 3rd generation petrol V6 when we are getting pushed into driving eco cars. Gona make mine last as long as possible, if that means swapping the suspension or whatever than i will, cheaper than a new motor. After that will join the milk float brigade. We all different though, just my opinion
  18. Reminds me of an issue i had on a Merc a good while ago, that ended up being a coil. Mines on 90k now and wont be surprised if similar issues start.(hope not yet though, touch wood) Thing is though, great mechanic and sorted it in 15 mins, some garages will take the ****
  19. Just to end this on something else that might be useful. Was telling a guy in work about it and as soon as i mentioned moving the car offf the drive for a few seconds the previous day, he replied. "My old fiesta did this all the time, if ever he moved the car off the drive and ran it for a few seconds, it would not start the next day" Became a thing just to let it tick over a while. As mentioned previously. Ps, started fine today, lights brighter than usual. Perhaps battery was on its way out Cheers Sean.
  20. I did give it a bit of gas at one point, just not all way down to floor lol. Felt like it had unclogged something Always a bit tentative around starting this motor, very advanced for me with this push button nonsense, Anyways, lets hope it starts in morning. touch wood
  21. Well, that was a very odd motoring experience. Took it for a drive, turned off, then started fine. At least i know where i stand with the battery now, having a new one. There might be something in that running them for a few seconds lark, as it was fine before that, il add PS THANKS ALL, appreciate you taking the time.
  22. Tried another fob and new battery in it, no start. It has half a tank of petrol, I've not added diesel by mistake. I will try again on the accelerator and see what the warning lights do. Thanks all
  23. I moved it off the drive saturday as i was sweeping the drive, only ran it for a few seconds. Maybe thats it. Mines an auto though, i dont touch the accelerator when starting it. Actually, maybe i did give it some gas, Not sure what do now, just leave it a while and try again maybe
