Update: It appears that Clean Air Zone doesn't/didn't receive the correct data from DVLA, hence my car(LS430, 2002) was not compliant at couple of locations. It's been rectified now after I spoke to them directly. So If you believe your vehicle meets the criteria but the checker says you must pay the daily charge, contact the central Clean Air Zone support service on 0300 029 8888 to fix the data discrepancy. Lines are open from 8am to 7pm between Monday and Friday (except bank holidays) and 8am to 2pm on Saturday.

Yes, I agree with you. Garage guys advised me the same. Their recommendation was that if I kept the air suspension, there is a risk of potential issues with either the height sensor or suspension components, which would require frequent visits for repairs. Therefore, they advised me to opt for coil overs instead.

My car's air suspension seems to have problems. It's become onesided recently, and the mechanic suggested that the rear height sensor and suspension components need replacement. They've advised switching both the front and rear from air suspension to coilovers now. TEIN FLEX Z COILOVERS LEXUS LS430 (Parts £780 + Labour charges of £600). Any thoughts/advice would be greatly appreciated!!

@BigBoomer Btw, thanks for the information regarding NHMC level. I browsed few websites, they all mention about Euro 4 standard, but they don't provide me with the specification. I would like to obtain Euro 4 standard specification from an official source to submit a request to Birmingham and Bristol councils. Do you have any specific link or website that shows these specification , please? thanks!
-
@BigBoomer Nope, I didn't set my car specification to Euro 4 as it was not available in my V5 document- similar to your document. How ever, I separately submitted a request to them by attaching my v5 and explaining the situation i.e. CO, HC, and NOx levels and those are all that meet the Euro 4 specifications.

I have just returned from a week long trip to Belgium and Netherlands. Emission sticker is not required, we need to get the cars approved if we would like to visit few locations now. However, specific places like Antwerp and Brussels now demand approval for foreign registered vehicles if we intend to visit those areas. Car registration to visit Antwerp : https://www.slimnaarantwerpen.be/en/LEZ/register-your-vehicle Car registration to visit Brussels: https://lez.brussels/mytax/en/registration Btw, my 2002 LS430 has passed Antwerp LEZ zone tests and allowed to visit up to 31/12/2027. Initially, Brussels' transport authorities communicated a requirement of 35 euros per day for my visit to Brussels due to an unspecified euro standard in my V5 document. However, after I submitted a separate request to them, providing emission standard details that included Lexus's early emission standard adoption scheme, I did not receive any response. Interestingly, when attempting to make the 35 euro payment, the system indicated that it was unnecessary to do so. Hopefully I don't have to pay....

Cost to place cambelt and water pump on LS430
Lexus_2023 replied to DJT's topic in Lexus General Maintenance
Sorry, my suggestion is that beginning with the 100K/10 Year service option that includes the aforementioned items, and then consulting with the service personnel to include other items like the water pump and radiator etc to prevent incurring dual labour charges. As you mentioned, major work related to replacing the cambelt have already been included, so it would be prudent to add the supplementary items to it. -

@DJT thanks for your update, if you have decided to go with Lexus dealership route, please explore this option as well. Basically you can ask them to start with 10 year service(I attached a picture with what is included, note: water pump is not included) and add more options to it based on your requirements. -

@DJT Many thanks, quickly checked the pdf file. It seems £1050 + VAT for cambelt + tensioner + water pump + labour . I did get a similar quote from local indy. Lexus dealer charges less than this amount, but it doesn't include water pump though! -

@DJT By now, I assume that you might have received some quotes and had the necessary work done. Could you provide an update on the cost of the work if possible, please? The replacement of my car's cambelt and water pump is scheduled for next year. -
