  1. I was a bit concerned that it may be the cleaner I'm using, as I do know that some of them contain a high level of solvency and should NOT be used on airbags as they obviously have a thinner outer layer. But, the stuff I'm using is the Meguiar's interior cleaner and didn't have any probs with previous cars. But as long as it's not just something happening to mine, I'll leave it. I could always make some of the other plastic a lighter shade so it blends in :D Thanks for your replies
  2. Has anybody else experienced this ? The square plastic airbag cover on the dashboard looks a lighter colour in different lights ?!? :duh: If anyone has experienced this, what did you do about it - if anything. I'm not all that bothered but would be interested if there is a simple answer to solving the problem.
  3. Micro Fibre cloths are great for absorbing water - as the fibres soak soak it up alot better than a chamois. But you have to remember that they also pick up dust, and if you continue using them without regularly cleaning the towel, you will just be applying dust to paint / dashboards.
  4. Uhhh ? I'm not saying you're wrong or anything, but what a daft thing to do to the tyres. Does that mean you shouldn't buy tyres if it's wet outside ??!? That's kinda like storing brakes in grease so they don't corrode.
  5. Sorry to hear the bad news mate. I mean, having to drive a Corsa must be terrible..... nah, just joking. Glad yer okay.
  6. I can't remember anybody taking pictures of my OTHER car :D How the other half live....
  7. Don't these people just pee you off !! I had a couple of stone chips on my driver's door which have now been sorted by Rob Clatworthy of Flying Colours. I don't know if you have heard of them, but apparently (so Rob said) they are based all around the UK. Try ringing 01675 471150 (this is their main office I presume in Warwickshire), or you can contact Rob on 07970 542600 (he might be able to give you more advice), or they have a website www.dentwizard.com I wouldn't recommend them if they done a crap job, but he was top. (And it only cost £40) :D
  8. I didn't know that one - you learn something new every day as they say. ← Yup, recently completed an insurance proposal form for Adrian Flux and they ask how many keys/immobilised fobs you have. And state that you must produce them all if the car is stolen. ← Wow, I ain't heard that one before (but then again I tend not to bother reading small print on Insurance documents and stuff) I suppose it makes sense though
  9. I didn't know that one - you learn something new every day as they say.
  10. Was it a local B&Q ? If not I might consider taking a chance and not bother worrying about the locks. (I presume you have the spare set back home). Was there any form of identification on the keys, ie. reg number, house name/number ?
  11. Kinda. The lexus alloys look great but have a two stage finish, which is a pain in the ***** if you want them identical to the originals. However, most refurb places will scrap the diamond cut finish to save money, and you really can't tell the difference! ← I had all mine refurbished when I bought the car (second hand) in Jan. I rang Lexus and told them that I had already had them done by their bloke and wanted to ask him about cleaning and maintaining them (total lie !). The reception lady gave me his mobile number, I rang him and booked my car in to have all four wheels done and saved £15 per wheel (they charged £45 each). You could try that, but bear in mind that as woggledog has put they tend to scrap the diamond cut finish. You really don't miss it after a couple of days. I got mine done in a metallic bright silver finish as well. Does look good, and the finish is perfect (plus another years warranty from the wheel refurbishment company).
  12. 28k on a Y plate ?? Wow, sounds good to me. :D Somebody had a 5 spoke spare for £50 Yesterday (on this site). If it's only a spare, it might be worth looking him up. The chrome gear knob on mine was badly scuffed. Cost about £20 for a new one from Lexus - definitely worth it. I had a look at others from places like Ripspeed, but they were quite a bit larger than the standard Lexus one. So I'd definitely go to Lexus. Piece of advice (not that your stupid or anything) - keep the old gear knob. It'll come in handy when you need to have your car serviced or if ever put in a garage. These things get scuffed due to people wearing rings, and you don't want that to happen to your new one. Welcome to the wonderful world of Lexus btw.
  13. Does that mean another BBQ ??? I can smell the burgers Although London does seem quite far, I suppose it ain't too bad if you come and pick me up first !!! :D :P :D
  14. HaHa. They'll think the Beckham's have moved in :D
  15. ← hey, your only down the road, you'll have to come over for the housewarming if all goes to plan) ← You'll end up with the poshest party going..... Just imagine all the Lexus owners turning up outside your new house
  16. Good for you, and best of luck. Hope all goes well Just whatever happens, DON'T SELL THE LEXUS :D
  17. Whoops ! I must be in a different time zone.
  18. There is one near the end of the this month at the NEC, but it's the Maxpower one.
  19. :D :D I didn't know so many people would be so particular about their nuts :D :D
  20. Oh balls. This is the only problem with only being able to use the site in working hours (I don't have a computer at home). I went to Halfords last night and bought a Peco 3 1/2" Just gotta wait til the weekend to get it fitted. B) Thanks for the offer though Bobski
  21. Very nice wheels, but not exactly what I was expecting to see going by the title of your topic !
  22. I thought the same about the "specialist job" rubbish they were quoting me. Sounds stupid though saying they could have made a few bucks out of me. I was looking for an oval design as I thought it would be best to just match what is on the Lex at the mo. But that said, after what Fidgits has put on a previous message about the round shape fitting okay, I've contacted Halfords and told them I want the 3 1/2" Peco. Halfords have told me that a garage just a few units up from them will be able to fit it for me as well :D Things could be looking up.
  23. I have the HKS Hiper mate... and lexaholic, dont worry about the actual box - you wont actually notice once its on the car.. Trust me on the Peco - and i dont think you'll find anything much cheaper... ← Thanks for the advice again. :) It sounds to me like I'll just say yes when the Halfords man rings back today. I'm just a bit paranoid when it comes to my car - I always want things to be as perfect as I can afford :D
  24. I had a look at a couple of Peco exhausts Yesterday (in a magazine) and found the 3 1/2" to be the better one out of the four that were available for Lexus (this was in Halfords). Unfortunately it had a round back box, and I was looking for a kinda oval one to replace the original oval back box on the Lex. The bloke at Halfords said that he would contact Peco and find out if they do an oval back box with a round 3 - 3 1/2" pipe and he would get back to me tomorrow. Apart from that I don't seem to be able to find any other resources here in Bristol for supplying exhausts ! I also contacted local garages such as Kwik-Fit and Pro-Tyre and they both said that they would not be able to fit the exhaust as it would be a specialist job requiring specialist tools ??!?? I thought they were universal fittings which just come as clamps and nuts (so to speak) ? The price Halfords were asking for the 3 1/2" is £235 (of which I can deduct £40 as I have a voucher from their Ripspeed magazine). BTW, I was only looking to spend about £200-250 What's your opinions on this ? Do you think I'm being too picky looking for an oval box ? Do any of you know of any reputable suppliers or other makes of exhausts which fit the above requirements, and a Lexus ? I'll have to shoot off now as I'm down the gym using their internet cafe. I'll log back in tomorrow at work if any of you have any suggestions or questions for me. Thanks for your help.
  25. Hope yer having a good time, but put down the computer buddy and soak up the rays (and beers).
