  1. Although I no longer have my Lexus, roughly 8 weeks ago I purchased 2 new Dunlop SP9000's (lexus pattern) from a local tyre place with no problems. It maybe that some places just don't stock them. I paid roughly £90 each incl vat and fitting. Dave
  2. Yep, it's definately Pin 2 on the older (CD slot at the bottom) radio models. I successfully installed my Nokia bluetooth kit (CK-7W) last night, and mute function worked fine when on a call. The only think now is to work out a more permanent way of attaching the mute wire. There is a connector block going into my radio (have read somewhere that other people don't have that.... maybe it's because I have the Navigator?) I guess I should be able to track down a pin that I can crimp on the wire and push into the back of the block. Dave
  3. I replaced the 2 rear tyres on my car last week, and the Dunlop SP9000's (Lexus) cost me £93 each incl fitting. Dave
  4. Thanks for the reply Janey. I sort of came to the conclusion that he is away.... just bad timing on my part really. All I want to do is post in the Cars For Sale section, and it is frustrating that only 1 person is able to act on any new Gold members. Will just have to wait then Dave
  5. Statistics Last Seen: 19th June 2007 - 02:10 PM Steve, Please, can you sort out my Gold Membership status on here..... I have PM'd you and tried 2 email addresses that I found, but nothing has been done about it yet. I paid up on the 20th/21st, so as you haven't been about since the 19th, I guess that's why it's not been sorted. My username on the Gold forums is 'dave_w' Thanks
  6. Tom, I could possibly help you out.... I am looking to sell my car. It nearly matches your requirements too. 87K on the clock, granite sky, and a sport version, plus I'm only in the next county to you. Mot until next Jan, taxed until next May. PM me if your interested, and we'll talk further. Dave
  7. Thanks I'll get in touch with him. Yesterday I also contacted another local dealer, and their parts dept was more helpful. Firstly they can supply me with some white grease in a 500ml can. Also I can buy the individual clips from them too. If I went for all 8 clips to cover both front wheels it get a bit pricy, but then I do want to stop the knocking noise. Why each dealer can't provide the same service and help I don't know..... Has anyone changed over their clips, greased them up and had the noise go away ? Dave
  8. Well... I tried my local dealer this time, and they were a little more helpful. They could supply me with an "axle kit" which would cover both front wheels and contains all the springs/clips/(shims ?) that I would need. Possibly a bit ott, seeing as it's probably only the clips that I need. If I order one it would cost me £44.45 I'm going to try another dealer and see what response I get. Dave
  9. Can I ask which dealership you got this from ? I wanted to get hold of some at the weekend, only to be told by the person at the service desk that they only come with a new set of brake pads. Dave
  10. Hi Dino, Well.... on my way back from a short stay in Devon, I stopped off at a Lexus/Toyota dealership in the south west on Saturday. I asked about the "white grease" and was told by the guy behind the service desk that they only have it in huge drums. If I wanted some they would have to order it in and it's not cheap. I also asked whether it's possible to purchase the springs/clips that hold the pads in place, and he said that they only come with replacement Lexus pads. He said the clips should be changed when the pads are replaced. As my replacement front pads were Mintex ones from Prolex they didn't come with any springs/clips, so therefore I was unable to change them at the same time. Seeing as it's a pain to get hold of this grease and I can't get any new springs without buying Lexus pads, does anyone have any ideas how I go about reducing the knocking noise ? I know it's not a difficult job to sort the problem out, but not being able to get hold of the parts required is annoying, especially when the dealership in question was unhelpful. Dave
  11. Hi Dino, I think I know what you are referring to.... I remember seeing a 'silver' coloured piece of metal (I suppose it could of been a spring) at each end of where the pad sits. The pads have a bump sticking out at each end and they slide into a notch on the caliper, so I guess that in that notch there is the spring you refer to ? So I simply clean up the area and grease the metal springs ? Dave
  12. Out of interest guys, are you talking about the "V" shaped spring that pushes the pads apart ? I've been putting up with a clonking noise coming from the front wheels for a while now. So at the weekend I took both front brakes apart and cleaned everything up, plus put a little copper slip/grease in the appropriate place. The knocking isn't as bad as it was but it's still there. Just wondered what else I could do/it could be, as I would like to sort it before I try and sell my car. Dave
  13. "how about if you refurb them then make sure you add the refurb price it onto the price of the car when you sell it and make it a selling point" Well that is one option available to me.... but I suppose a possible answer from a potential buyer might be 'why should I pay for the work that you have had done ?' So far I have had pricing back from 2 companies, and am awaiting for replies from others. Based on those 2 quotes, I'm looking at a good £300 for all 4 wheels to be done. I'm hoping that other quotes will be a bit less than that. Also one of those companies offered the refurb service but had no facilities to leave my car supported without wheels, so therefore the logistics for me would probably be too much.
  14. Hi guys, Sadly after 4 years I have decided it's time to try and sell my IS200. I was just after a general opinion as to whether I should pay to have all 4 wheels refurbed. There is a reasonable amount of corrosion and there have been a couple of 'kerbing incidents', as a result they don't really look that good in my opinion. Trouble is, do I spend (currently ringing round for quotes....) the money on making the car look better prior to selling it, or is the opinion that I won't really get the money back in the asking price? If you were looking at a 2000 (V) IS200 sport in Granite Sky, would you consider buying it if the wheels didn't look that great....... Dave
  15. Isle of Arran this Thursday for 1 week, then 2 weeks in Slovakia in June.
  16. Well I've managed to find another place that will supply a Bosch one for £65, but as I'm in the process of moving abode, every penny counts ! The same company can do a Yuasa for £50 and I'm pretty happy with that. Yuasa batteries Comes with a 4 year warranty, so there shouldn't be any problems etc.
  17. Was hoping it might be, but sadly no sorry. Thanks again though. There must be some sort of conspiracy, as none of those companies appeared in Norfolk, Suffolk or Essex, and the nearest one to me is a good 1½ hours drive there ! One last look through the Yellow Pages before I admit defeat.
  18. I would say I'm about this <--> close to giving up trying to find a local Bosch or Delphi battery supplier :( All of the (local to me) distributors on the Bosch and Delphi websites no longer supply those brands..... They say they can still get hold of them, but the cost goes up way beyond what anyone should realistically spend on a new one. Unless anyone has any other suggestions/recommendations, I'll probably end up buying a "motorfactor" type replacement from my local Lexus dealer. Certainly won't be getting an OEM one as they are stupid money.
  19. Me neither.... But yesterday I did recieve an invitation from my local dealer for this weekend, to have a look round some "pre enjoyed" IS200's. The deal they are offering on appearance looked very good (almost desperate to sell some cars I'd say), but I still won't be going.
  20. Depends on the circumstances I guess.... In the past I've dropped my car off on a Friday late afternoon, they service my car on the Saturday morning and I go back to pick up my car later that day. I've found that they prefer you to pick your car up before the service desk closes (around 12.30pm) but it hasn't been a problem to arrive after then.
  21. Errrr Brought it at least 12 months ago so I'm not sure. Wasn't terribly expensive (makes a change !) less than a fiver I think.
  22. Hi Stu. I have the same colour IS as you and brought myself a touch up kit from my local dealer. Comes with 'Toyota' all over it, but I wasn't surprised by that.
  23. Not personally, but currently have a set of Avon ZZ3's on. So far so good and no complaints. Tread wear seems much better aswell compared to the Goodyear GSD3's that they replaced....
  24. I'll take that as a yes then :P
