  1. Here here..... I loose count every morning the amount of tw*ts I see driving while very obviously on the phone (i.e. holding one). Proper car kits are not expensive !
  2. I had a feeling earlier, but it's just clicked.... you work for PlusNet :) Keep up the good work :mat:
  3. "A MAC Key is a unique code generated by your service provider. It always begins with the letters BBIP or FTIP followed by six or eight digits then a slash and five more alphanumeric characters, for example "BBIP87654321/AB12C". By generating this code for you your service provider is agreeing to your move to PlusNet." You'll need to contact Wanadoo and request your key and then provide the information to the company you wish to sign up with.
  4. I've been to that site (mentioned in an earlier post, but thanks anyway :) ) and looked up the dealers in both Ipswich and Cambridge, and both searches came up with the same two companies. Tried them and only one could get me a Bosch AsiaSILVER but would have to order it in (not kept in stock) and charge me the carriage on top ! Total price came to £65 (bit steep me thinks) Will be trying a few local Jap dealers in the morning, Mazda, Honda etc etc, if that fails I'll probably make it worth the while for a colleague to get one for me next time he's up north.
  5. As you have a BT line, if you go to their Availability Checker and punch in your phone number, you should be able to see what speeds your line will give you. I think the average is 2mb, but depending on where you live, that may well be slower or faster than that.
  6. I can't remember the rules on advertising... but from personal experience I can recommend a company based in Sheffield called PlusNet. They can be found at PlusNet I think we pay around £20 - 22 for a 2mb line with a download limit, but for not much more ££ you can go unlimited. Good prices for a fast speed and with a good service. My 2p's worth. Dave
  7. Good thinking Batman !! Last thing I would of thought of..... thanks, I'll make some enquiries. So far I have a couple of irons in the fire. A very kind John Harrison from Andrew Page is able to send me a battery direct from Bosch (with an extra carriage charge) to me, but then I'd have to get it filled with acid as they come dry Also, I have a work colleague who occasionally travels up to the Doncaster area, so I've mentioned to him in passing about getting me one from a depot while up there. In the mean time I'll try a few local Jap car dealers as their parts department may be able to help.
  8. Not having much luck here.... Phone the head office of Andrew Page and I get the impression they don't do mail order. The guy I spoke to said he would try and find out the names of any local Bosch resellers to me and let me know, but he hasn't done that yet (may well call him back and check etc). Any of the other local companies that do sell Bosch don't stock the AsiaSILVER, but one guy quoted me on a equivalent called ABS for £29 + vat No idea if it's any good, but personally I'd like to stick to a brand name. Basically, if I can't get hold of a Bosch battery, does anyone have any other recommendations ?
  9. They are paying somebody to wash it, therefore you are paying for it in your servicing costs. Just isn't listed. ← Do you reckon that all Lexus dealers do that ? Because if they do, the one that did my 50k service didn't bother ! In fact, whenever my car goes there (not often..) they never do it. On the other hand, my nearest dealer (where I brought the car from) from memory have always washed it.
  10. Yeah, thanks. I have looked at their site (from seeing it mentioned in another post) but I guess it's a case of trying one of the depots listed. If none of them do mail order then it's a no go anyway (they are too far away to pop to). Cheers for the help.
  11. Cool !! Cheers for the response. Only problem I have now is finding a local supplier..... I've tried the 2 reseller companies listed on the Bosch AutoParts website, but one of them doesn't stock Bosch, and the other would have to order one in (incl delivery !) which would cost me £65 I'm sure there are other companies local to me that stock them, trouble is finding them.
  12. Are you happy both cables reached the terminals on the battery ok ? (I'm just checking...) I've decided that it's time to renew the battery on my 5 year old IS, as the problems I'm having with starting it are becoming more and more frequent. Probably will get the Bosch AsiaSILVER one as others have found it's ok.
  13. I did wonder if it was..... they are one of our biggest customers :)
  14. Out of interest.... STS stands for ?
  15. Hmmmm, in that case I'm stumped.... as it can't be Neatishead Oh well.
  16. I guess that's at Marham or Coltishall then... Have been in the IT industry for about 15 years. Currently a Senior Support Analyst for a software house.
  17. Is a shame you didn't go for (or was offered) the pre-paid servicing schedule and get 2 years (2 services) for £460 all in. Something which I've sorted out for my 60 & 70K services. Back to your question though, I'm pretty sure I paid roughly that much for my 40K service and the price included the coolant and brake fluid change. p.s. Just noticed your a Gold LOC member. Did they give you any form of discount ?
  18. Saw a nice red IS300 (M7 ???) parked in the pay and display car park behind Woolworths in Ipswich yesterday (6pm).
  19. Without wanting to sound too naive.... how do you work that out ?? The needle on the dashboard goes up and down accordingly, but I presume there is an easy way to get a rough idea of mpg ? I try to be easy on the throttle as most of my driving is on country B roads. Unless I'm on a dual carriage way, I rarely see the needle go over 20 mpg.....
  20. Would be great if you were able to PM me some details of this company. My other half has a credit "issue" at the moment (none of her fault btw, and is being dealt with by the police !) but I can just see the mortgage companies giving us a hard time when trying to sort out a house in the near future. Regards, Dave
  21. I think he means the button you press to release the handbrake. But from what you said, he doesn't need to touch it.... Your description sounded perfectly ok.
  22. I have a fear of being flamed for saying this, but the word legalities spring to mind. Thought fog lights are only to be used when visibility is less than 100 metres/yards ?
  23. Out of curiosity... checked elephant to see what they would do for me (not that I need to renew just yet). £397 seemed pretty good for fully comp with protected NCB with a £100 voluntary excess :)
  24. Something like this http://www.angryziber.com/ipscan/ would do the job, or alternatively do a google search on 'ipscan' Dave
