  1. I've driven the IS300 manual in Japan and its a totally different animal from the Auto version. Its very much quicker and more of a pleasure to drive. I just can't wait for the 3.3 litre engine (IS330??) to be released. That must be a really potent engine.
  2. Thanks for the replies and interest. Like I said, AP racing (based in Coventry) will need you to take your car in with at least 1 stock 17" wheel (even if its the spare) so that they can measure up using it. They will need the car for a few hours only. They will probably use a 330mm disc with the 6-pot calliper for a front conversion. They might be able to do a calliper conversion only for the rear but my experience is that its not worth the money and you'll get the same results by using uprated pads. Even with EBD and brake-assist, most of the brake bias is to the front so the rears don't really do as much work. Their workshop is open Mon-Thurs I think but I will check this with their R&D dept and post the reply. AP kits typically cost around GBP 1400 but we can of course try to negotiate a discount for bulk buying / offering a car for them to measure up. I've driven several cars with AP conversions and I'm sure anyone who gets one will not be disappointed. Funnily enough, the majority of people in Asia / Australia who buy Impreza STI and Lancer EVO cars change their Brembo brakes for AP ones straight after collecting their cars, which I guess shows the capability and reliability.
  3. I may be mistaken but I don't think there's a lightweight flywheel for the 1G engine, only the 3S-GE RS200 version of the Altezza.
  4. I've heard of MOVIT but when I last contacted them, they wanted a huge amount for their ceramic brake setup (around 6000 pounds if I remember correctly). I've just been in touch with the AP racing R&D department and they're happy to work on a 6-piston kit but they need a car with the 17" stock wheels for about 2-3 hours for them to measure up so that they can fabricate the necessary mounts. I'd love to let them have my car apart from the small problem that I'm in Australia. If anyone in the UK is interested, pls let me know so that I can put you in touch with the relevant person at AP racing.
  5. TRD springs are made by KYB in Japan, as are a lot of their products. TRD just give them the specifications and KYB manufacture the lot. I'm using HKS springs are they are very good. Not very much difference in ride quality but I must say that they've dropped the car a hell of a lot! I now can't even sneak one finger in between the wheel arch and tyre when previously, 4 fingers would go. BTW, I paid around AUD$300 for my HKS springs.
  6. Does anyone know the email address of this guy in the US who has fitted the armrest? I went to my local dealer and they've sworn that its not possible because they've tried several times and it needs a complete change of the centre console which will cost over US$1500. I really need to get the part numbers for the various 'bits' and then I can do the fitting myself to prove these people wrong.
  7. Dark_IS200, If you can send me the info it will be great. My email is T4RRR@hotmail.com
  8. I'm in Melbourne right now so please let me know where you got it done and the cost of installation. I looked up the instructions and the GXE10 model is listed so I assumed there must be some kind of harness or something else. I guess they'll have to tap into the ECU in the engine bay. Usually the speed sensor comes off the ABS I think, but with the GXE 10 ECU having around 14 auxilliary inputs, I really don't know.
  9. TRD 328, I've seen that you've fitted this to your car. I bought it because I was told it is the only 'plug and play' device that can remove the speed limiter on the IS200s. Can you let me know how easy it was to go in and where you got it done? Thnx.
  10. That's fantastic news!! Does anyone have the part number? I seem to have to do all the research because the dealers aren't too bothered here.
  11. Has anyone tried retrofitting a centre armrest like those on the 02 cars onto a pre-02 car? I would love to try it but was told that the part was almost AUD$1000 and they would not take it back if it did not fit! Any help would be much appreciated.
  12. Has anyone fitted AP Racing 6-piston brakes to their car? I'm wondering whether the stock 17" wheels will have sufficient clearance or whether I'll have to go for a set of 18" wheels.
  13. For those with the TTE kits fitted, could you tell me what the maximum boost pressure is?
  14. Water injection is really fantastic. I've fitted it to one of my turbocharged cars and it is able to sustain boost for longer and keeps the engine cool which is ideal for cars which run in warmer climates. Its very easy to install and does not do the engine any harm at all as it is the same as driving the car during a heavy downpour and I'm sure we've all seen that cars perform better in those conditions. When I supercharge my IS200, I will definitely fit water injection for sure.
  15. BTW, when I was in Japan recently, I bought a magazine which only had to do with modifications for the IS200. There was loads of stuff for the 3S-GE engine but hardly anything for the 1G-FE. I did see that the TTE dealers in Japan had the compressor fitted to their car and it was pushing out 277bhp.
  16. Did I read that correctly, 1100Nm of torque?? That's phenomenal given that the fastest car I've driven so far is an M3 and that only has 400Nm of torque. My IS200 has 192Nm as stock so in your car that has gone up over 5 times! BTW, the power you've recorded translates into almost 200bhp at the rear wheels which means roughly 220-230bhp at the flywheel, very impressive figures all round. Have you maintained the stock rev limit on the car? Also, have any owners who have to TTE kit got any figures at hand?
  17. Hi, I'm new here and have an 01 IS200 Manual. Am considering the TTE kit but has anyone got power figures after fitting one? I've read that AVO Japan do a turbo kit which gives near 220bhp. But it involves a lot of messing about which is why I like the idea of the TTE kit. Does the TTE software change the rev-limit and remove the speed limiter?
