  1. Eeeeek!! So if they've tinted my fronts incorrectly... I could be a crim!! Knew I should have asked here first
  2. On the Sport & 300, Lexus use what they call "privacy" glass for the rear passenger doors & rear windscreen, which I think is a 40% tint. The front passenger doors and windscreen are only very slightly tinted (say about 5-10%). There are companies that can apply a fine plastic film to the inside of the glass to make it more tinted (I had it done to mine), and in the UK the legal limit is 35% for the front passenger windows (that's according to my Lexus dealer who I arranged it thru). Not sure about whether they have to remove the glass or not to do it. No adverse effects tho, just makes the car look even more cool B) ;) If you want to see what all round tints look like, check out the pictures that "Advance" has just posted of his IS300 in the US. Very nice... B) B)
  3. Beautiful roads and scenery, and that's one handsome car!! :) B) (I'm very jealous of your manual transmission, as I'm stuck with e-Shift)
  4. Excellent!! (Good to see the Braun 1200w making a come back too!)
  5. Had that on my previous IS after about 8K miles! Sounds like it may be a matter of time before this one does it too
  6. I'm with Fever, can't see no car....!! Scene from "Terminator 3 - Does my bum look big in this?"
  7. B10 NFS...? ("Bio") H20 NFS...? ("H²O") Just to add to the confusion you understand :P
  8. No-one else from Sussex?? Seen a few other IS's around here, but guess they're too busy enjoying their motors to be here on the forums :P
  9. Well I was born in Altringham (amost 46 years ago) and it wasn't posh then, it was just a little village! Family moved south when I was 2 yrs old, so now I live among the "softie sutheners" just outside Brighton. (I say Brighton, 'coz no-one's ever heard of Shoreham by Sea)
  10. Uh oh.... I'm older'n MissJ + Mitch added together! A life of fast livin', beer, women and Lexus - look what it's done to me........ yayyyyyy
  11. Eeeek! I'll use age as my excuse... I'm waaaaaayyyy too old to be listening to Britney :P
  12. Think it's a known fault - happens when you try to play Britney Spears CDs :P
  13. It's a problem that's been mentioned before in this forum, so you're not alone. I've had two IS's and both have had a creaky sunroof from new! However, on both the noise has stopped after about 5 minutes driving, so I've just ignored it Guess it might be possible to use some silicone lubricant, if you can pinpoint the 'creak'
  14. The easy way to a beautiful clean car... 1) Bribe the other half to do it while she does hers (promise of a Saturday pub lunch usually works well). 2) Get her to drive to pub (as you're buying). 3) Order food & beer. 4) Order more beer. 5) Look apologetic on discovering wallet left at home!
  15. There's a new BMW 330 Coupe diesel on the way - due here in spring 2004. 204bhp and 410Nm of torque will give the manual a 0-60 time of just 7.2s (with the auto only .2s behind that), so it'll show my '300 a clean pair of heels... Then I turn to the latest JD Powers survey. BMW owners rated their 3-series worse than the Lexus for mechanical reliability, interior quality, exterior quality, interior appeal and exterior appeal. Guess it's not all about out & out speed :D
  16. Congrats & welcome! I live miles away from Hadleigh (with all the softy sutheners ;) ) but I've seen lots of good reports about Hadleigh Lexus :)
  17. I can sympathize with you there, I was ready to punch someone out when I got my door dented in the local supermarket carpark, so £4K's worth of damage.... I can understand why you were fuming It's been suggested (possibly elsewhere in this forum) that a good way to make tail-gaters back off is to use your windscreen washers. The surplus spray blowing over and on to them may get the message across.
  18. Sure the BMW 3-Series looks ok, is well made, and drives well. However in the UK, for every one Lexus (of any type) sold, BMW sell thirty-seven 3-Series cars. That means the 3-Series are everywhere, which for my money doesn't make them exclusive or classy
  19. Actually, for the badge why not make one yourself? Remove the "Sports" badge, take an impression of it in plaster of paris, get one of those kids jewlery making kits - you know, the ones with that clear plastic stuff in. Find a suitable backing (maybe even cut up one of the chrome caliper stickers), pour the plastic, apply the backing, fit a couple of hooks, Bob's yer uncle! .... am I rambling? .... I'm rambling .... I'll shut up now :iraqi-info-minister:
  20. I had one fitted to mine - I prefer the look over the standard grille which makes the '300 look a little pedestrian. Still got the "Sport" badge on it, even though the car isn't really the Sport model in the true sense
  21. I'd ask to see examples of cars they've done first. If they're any good, they shouldn't have any problem showing you "reference" cars.
  22. It's the other half's birthday on Feb 21st, so this could be her birthday present! I shall ask her at lunchtime, so it'll either be a "yes" or I'll get my ears boxed! Watch this space....
  23. Yep - she was checking herself in the mirror! Shame she didn't notice the full leather, e-Shift controls, tinted windows, etc.... women eh! <_< :P Trouble is, even I'm now convinced the wing mirrors are smaller on the '03 model...
  24. How much is your old man willing to spend? G1 LEX is available for a mere £2,999 :o Then for someone called Neil, how about N16 LEX or even N999 LEX both going for £250 :)
