  1. Fair enough I'm just trying to help to save you some money and deal with a problem you have with intermittent false warnings but if you want to spend the guts of £57+ on a product....that's fine. Of course I know Vaseline is a petroleum based product but I'm not talking about putting loads of it on, just a gentle smear. Some people (using vaseline) on here have had up to 4 years of no false warnings whereas I have only had 2 years of warning free incidents. Plus I have used vaseline on my lips and it hasn't done me any harm but as I say this is only a forum for tips from other Lexus users and if you decide not to take these tips on board....that's totally fine.
  2. Its on Amazon but it's really expensive at £57+ https://www.amazon.co.uk/Honda-Genuine-08798-9013-Silicone-Grease/dp/B00GD49GTS/ref=sr_1_8?crid=FNVYWRM4Q1VX&keywords=Shin-Etsu+silicone+grease&qid=1668024587&sprefix=shin-etsu+silicone+grease%2Caps%2C112&sr=8-8 when you can pick up Vaseline for £2 + at https://www.chemistdirect.co.uk/vaseline-pure-petroleum-jelly/prd-15l?glCountry=GB&glCurrency=GBP&sa=U&tracking_id=c7f9b941c5576d1dce5d8025b95c5a1e&usg=AOvVaw2XZRDFjf1GwZX24M6QEKFj&ved=0ahUKEwisiau7-aH7AhXSmFwKHUupDqMQ1ykIOA but as I say if you have the money then go and buy the Honda branded product (which does the same thing)
  3. How about this https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/403069215118?hash=item5dd8cc218e:g:V7wAAOSwLv9hFow1 a bit expensive when vaseline (cheap as chips) does the same job...but hey if you have the money this is the cheapest I have found
  4. well that should do the job but just remember to only put a very light coating on them and if you can just try and blow any water out of the sensors
  5. Totally agree....the vaseline is only a temporary hack, it works but you would think that Lexus would have a permanent fix by now but unfortunately they still haven't addressed it. I think some Toyota models have this problem as well
  6. Thanks malcolmw for your confirmation of the vaseline hack.......it worked for me, as well. In my case I believe the ceramic coating that I had done by the dealer hardened the rubber seal around the sensors and the vaseline or Silcone helps to bring back the flexibility to the rubber that the sensors need....plus it's probably less than a five minute job. I don't know about your sensors but mine only went off intermittently (usually after a real downpour).....but that is not happening now. I just love my Lexus ES....I was going to get rid of it this year and test drove a Tesla Y and although it drove very well it just wasn't up to the quality of my ES so I have decided to hold onto it Plus there is only about 10400 miles on it and for a 2019 car that is nothing (barely run in). I test drove the Lexus NX but I was less than impressed by it's mpg which for the ES is between 43 to 53mpg (NX was 30 to 36 mpg) and my car tax is £160 against the NX's £500 a year. So putting on a smear of vaseline every couple of years is absolutely nothing for an ES owner.
  7. Well why don't you just dry the sensors and quickly put a very small smear of vaseline on all of them....we are only talking about a five minute job. It worked for me and it lasted about two years. Mind you I blamed the ceramic coating that was put on my car just before I bought the car in 2019 new. Its worth a go at least, it certainly wont cause any harm. I take it the error has now stopped?
  8. Have you tried drying the sensors and blowing hot air from say a hair dryer (from a distance) to make certain they are fully dry and then either putting a thin layer of silicon or vaseline ( now I mean a thin layer) on the sensors? This has worked for me for nearly two years and just recently after a real downpour I got the "Warning Notice". It went away without doing anything further but I know this small hack worked for me. It could be a faulty sensor but it's worth trying this with the vaseline or the silicon
  9. This looks interesting. Which CPLAY2air wireless adapter do you have and what Lexus model do you have? Also what do you mean by AC compatible? I looked at something like this before but if I remember it doesn’t work on all entertainment systems. Does it connect every time you switch the head unit on?
  10. Bigscreen, definitely leave it for them to brick it that way if anything goes wrong you won’t have to fork out £3700
  11. To be perfectly truthful I think most of it is flannel. I went out the car today (2019 Lexus ES from new) and the first time I tried to play Spotify on the Android Auto and it didn’t work and played through the phone. I then stopped and took the USB lead out and popped it it in and again it didn’t work and then I asked Google to play a track and it worked……it’s a pain in the neck. I have tried various ways to get it to work but to date I haven’t found a combination in getting it to work first time. I’m hoping to purchase a new car next year and this is going to affect by buying decision, thankfully the new cars come with it wirelessly built in. Lexus you need to get your act together this is just not good enough
  12. As I have said many times be very very careful about this upgrade. I do believe they are trying to put a “square peg in a round hole”. I think that the CarPlay technology is much more advanced than the systems they are trying to put them into and they just haven’t got it right. Which is why mine sometimes works and sometimes doesn’t (mostly it doesn’t)……..which is why they have changed all the head units of all their new vehicles. I suppose the good thing about you getting it upgraded by Lexus themselves then if they brick your unit they have to change your head unit (which I believe is £3700) so either way you gain or you might be like me having a system that doesn’t work most of the time. Good news is they are waiting on an update on an update. Whatever way you look at it this is a Premier car manufacturer who is playing catch-up with technology with cars that are costing £40,000 plus…..IMO it is just not good enough. PS when do they expect this update of an update? At least your garage contacted you about this update whereas mine hit me with the bill of an extra £80 for that new update and left me with a unit that doesn’t work properly
  13. "Bigscreen"....be very careful. They told me it would be £60 to get it done and when I actually took it to them it was increased to £80 but that if the software needed to be upgraded then it would be £160. I told them as far as I was aware the software was upgraded but it appears that there is hidden software upgrades that only Lexus Service Engineers have access to. So they had the car a whole day and it cost me £160 and as I say it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. If I was you I would think twice about getting this upgrade and if you do go with the upgrade I would insist that they put that quote of £80 in writing. My upgrade was done by Lexus Belfast....so it wasn't some back street dodgy garage that did it. I know if I was to do it again I wouldn't go ahead with it. Don't get me wrong I love my Lexus ES.....it's beautiful car to drive and it's a quality build but this upgrade is just not worth the hassle. Lexus have been playing catch up with this intergration and as far as I know all of their new cars come with already built into them.....be very careful
  14. Honestly, it's just not worth it. Even if you could get the upgrading I have found that it is a hit and miss upgrading. Sometimes when I go out to the car it connects to the Apple Airplay and sometimes it doesn't. I would say the majority of the time it doesn't connect..... a total waste of time. Definitely not worth £160 (which I had to pay for the upgrading) There is absolutely no rime nor reason why it doesn't work. Defintely when it works the sound is superb but the trouble I have is trying to get it to work. Anybody who is contemplating getting this done to their Lexus should think twice I agree with "Moleman" statement "very poor for a modern car".......I have a late 2019 lexus ES and it doesn't have it and I had to get it upgraded (which most of the time doesn't work)....totally useless upgrade
