Antenna

I just bought one of these;

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/320537318530?redirect=mobile#ht_869wt_689

It's a 5cm aluminium aerial that screws into the original Lexus aerial mount on the roof.

It arrived thursday, so of course I ran outside to fit it - and was disappointed that it didn't screw down flush to the original mount. Wouldn't be a major problem as it wouldn't be hard to cut down the grub screw that comes with it for fitting. But that thought was academic because I turned on the radio to find I could only get white noise / static on every channel I had tuned, inc the BBC channels that are the strongest signal

Real shame as it looked great! But I'm sending it back cos it's pointless

I was going to mention this - a lot of the shark find I have seen are too long causing a gap between the fin and the roof. Unless there is a smaller one out there or it's flexible enough to glue down then it should be ok but you can only tell once it has arrived on ur doormat

I'd wager you could probably use a hot air gun and heat the shark fin enough to make it malleable, then bend it so it fits to roof contour nicely, wait till it cools and then fit it with some decent 3M double sided tape

I think I'd rather try and find a really good screen mounted aerial, and remove the roof one all together. Granted it'd mean fitting a plate on the inside of the roof and smoothing over with filler and painting, but it'd look a million times better having no aerial at all over the standard one or a shark fin.

Real shame Lexus didn't build the aerial into the rear screen - even my old C, D and E reg Escorts I had back in the day had the aerial in the rear screens!
