Hi,

I went to The Lexus dealership in chester to have my mid service, all was fine untill i went to pick my IS200 up again. the guy in the service department told me that i would need new brake shoes fromt and back, and that i also needed new discs on the front, so being the tight git that i normally am, i opted to have them done by a friend of mine. to cut a long story short my friend told me that there was at least 10000 miles left on the brake shoes and that the disks were fine. anybody else had this problem with a dealer?

Cheers Paul.

I've been told before that the pads are low and need replacing only to find them only half worn.

If you only had 10,000 miles live left then the dealer should tell you about them because they may not last until the next service. My dealer normally gives a % of wear left, although I don't know if they are accurate.

Did they say what was wrong with the discs and did your friend actually measure the disc thinkness to verify they were ok?
