Bigger boot on GS300 I

I had a look at the new Camry at a Toyota dealer yesterday. It is surprisingly similar to the GS300. Naughty. I was impressed by the huge boot, though.

Has anyone modified the Mk I GS300 to enlarge the boot? There are acres of wasted space in between the rear seat and the rear panel of the boot. Does the Mk II use the space better?

Hi Stevie,

You will not be able to modify the Mark one boot, as right behind the panel you see sits a huge petrol tank. The Mark two had the petrol tank mounted under the car so giving a larger boot space.

Stevie,

I had the panel out in my Mark 1 when I fitted new springs and as far as i can remember you would not gain very much indeed. However it was 2 years ago and my memory is not as good as it was.

The panel would stop items hitting the tank and causing damage.

There is one tip I can pass on and thats to turn the spare wheel up the other way.

Then you can store items in the wheel, I made up a simple plate up so that the wheel was still bolted down and gain some space.
