Ls 430 ignition stuck on!! Help

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

i am new ls430 owner and firstly wow! What an absolutely incredible car. My commuting is now a dream however.........

It has a smart key and I noticed the ignition switch was sometimes getting stuck when trying to turn off the car. Normally with a bit of wiggling it would turn off until last night.... Now it just gets stuck in the middle position and I'm unable to turn it off. I've had to leave the car with the sat nav screen still on. Any ideas anyone? Before the Battery completely dies!!! Please help!!

It's a long shot but on many cars with auto transmission the key/ignition switch can seem stuck because of a problem with the transmission switch, which won't let you take the key out.  Have you tried to turn the switch whilst moving the gear shift a bit, obviously with your foot on the brake pedal?

Has the 'Shift lock over-ride' button (next to gear shift) been pressed at some time and now stuck down? If so try and free it up. Also, as Phil suggests, wiggling the gear shift might allow the key to return to the 'off' position so you can remove it. I think the problem is that the car doesn't think it's correctly in Park.
