Ls 430 for towing a caravan

Recommended Posts

I wondered if anyone has used an Ls430 for towing a caravan?  If so did you fit an additional oil cooler for the gearbox, I know for some automatics this is suggested.  Also how did it perform and what impact did I it have on the mpg

thanks

Hi . I tow an abbey vogue  495 which is a single axle around 23 ft in length. I have asked about extra cooling and some would say it's a good idea but I haven't  as yet done anything about it. I recently  towed from home to devon which was about 230 miles and the car performed faultlessly without missing a beat. The car tows well without any issues. Obviously  you still have to load your caravan properly and make sure your tyres are correctly inflated. Towing anything is going to have an effect on fuel consumption but I really don't  worry about that. It's  like worrying about how much fuel your holiday flight will use, a lot obviously,  but who cares...you're on holiday.
