Issue with my 2005 LEXUS RX300

Recommended Posts

Hi all, got an issue with my RX300. I had the dreaded error codes come up for knock sensors. I got them changed and the error codes disappeared. Now for some reason the car starts up but just cuts out after a couple of minutes. There are no error codes. Could it be the idle air control valve as thats what comes up on the internet as a possible issue? Also isnt the IACV electronic and would error codes up come?

It restarts with acceleration. I took it for a spin to check it out. On a normal run it drives fine but when braking it and coming to a stop it cuts out. It cut out when attempting a 3 point turn.

Thanks

The symptoms do sound a lot like idle air control valve, sometimes it will throw a code if the module goes bad that 'sort of' blips the throttle when you come to a stop to not let the revs fall so low there is a danger of a stall.

Previously I've had this issue and no fault codes and it was because the IACV valve was gummed up and required a lot of cleaning (carb cleaner spray) to release it - all the electronics were sound (hence no code).

I've still got the same valve on a couple of years later and no stalling issues since...
