Quick Question

Good Morning,

It’s a great pleasure joining this forum and I’d like to say hi to all the fellow members on here and it’s been a great resource for information.

I’m looking at purchasing an IS 200 / 250 ( 2011 – onwards )  but am confused about the various levels of trim and was going to ask if there was a link that I could look at that shows the variants in more detail.

Ive been doing lots of reading and it appears that the diesel versions have various issues ranging from head gasket to DPF problems and they appear to be very expensive to repair. The IS250 range also have various issues but not like the diesel version.

I would be looking to purchase via a Lexus dealer as I feel that this would offer a better return in regards to services, warranty’s, support etc .

I’m more than happy to explore various options and am looking forward in hearing from everyone on the forum. Thanks in advance for the help.

Lexus brochures are available in PDF format online and will detail the various model variants and options.

The SE is the base model, followed by the SE-I and then the top model is either the SE-L or F-Sport where the main difference is the Leather (SE-L) or Alcantara seats, and bodywork styling and sports suspension on the F-Sport. The SE-L and F-Sport are Auto, the SE and SE-I can be auto or manual. Multimedia pack with SAT-NAV/Reverse camera with/without up-rated Mark Levinson stereo is an option on all models.

There was also an Advance model which I think was an SE-I with the Multimedia Pack as standard but I'm not sure about the specifics.

Buying from a Lexus dealer and taking out the Lexus used warranty deal is well worth considering for peace of mind. You need to have the car serviced by Lexus as this is a condition of the warranty.

I don't know if the IS200D has the same sorts of issues as the IS220D but if you're a high mileage driver they are a cheaper option.

Personally I think the IS250 is a fantastic car and you will probably be very happy should you choose to buy one.

Good luck with your search.

Hi BobMC,

Many thanks for the info as above , I have narrowed my selection down to  the F Sport and the SE-L variants after browsing the forums and the links you sent me. I will be off to see a few and am sure that with the helpful information on the forum , Ill soon be the owner of a IS 250.

Many thanks again for taking the time and effort to help me on my Lexus journey .

Best Regards
