Lexus RX400h TV Screens Issue

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

I've recently bought a 2007 Lexus RX400h and am absolutely over the moon with it - why I didn't consider it a long time ago I'll never know!

I know there is an abundance of information on here about multimedia in these cars, but I just can't see to find the answer to my problem. The spec on my car seems to be the SE-L. There are screens in the headrests but are not labelled as Lexus, instead 'Necvox', but are identical in layout the Lexus screen. The cabling for them travels down the inside of the headrest bar into the seat so I presume they're OEM.

Now, I can not for the life of me find a DVD player... Nothing under either seats, neither cables or anything else to indicate there should be. I have the ML sound system and can play a DVD through that up front, but can not get it to work on the back screens - instead they just power up onto a blue screen with a menu to change the display settings.

The only cable I do have is a yellow 13 pin PIE cable in the glove compartment. The dealer I bought it from said he thought it could be for a Playstation or something, but there is not power output or anything there - just this yellow cable all expertly wired in.

Is anyone able to help?

Many Thanks.

I haven't got a 400h but a quick Google on the location of the DVD player brought this topic up from a couple of years ago. Seems like it should be under the driver's seat?

These are the screens I have in mine, are yours different? I presumed they would only have one option for rear entertainment in a model year?

Thank-you both very much for your replies.

Sorcerer - I can't see any cables under the seat to indicate that the player has been removed. Nothing hanging lose, the only wiring down there belongs to the heated seats/seat motors.

Hitby - Mine are actually embedded within the headrest. Fingers crossed, a photo below. Apologies about the poor light - getting dark here in Cornwall!
