Good afternoon I have just purchased A RX450 Premium and would like to know if it is possible to programme the key fob so that it only opens the vehicle on the presssing of the buttons on the fob instead of being near to the vehicle

To be clear, the vehicle only unlocks on touching the door handle when in possession of the keyfob, not just by being near the vehicle.

Yes, the system can be deactivated. Through the menu system on the dashboard (and possible in the vehicle settings in the infotainment screen). 

 

There will be a setting for the Smart Entry and start system which you can turn off. When disabled, you will need to present the key fob up to the start button to turn on the vehicle rather than just pressing the button with the key fob in your pocket.

Hi yes this is possible - go through the menu option and door opening settings - you will find option to turn off keyless entry. This will also disable the keyless start. you will need to touch you key to the start button until green light appears. 

The menu option on the steering wheel - hold down on menu for a second.
