From Beeb news .. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/business/3584883.stm

US petrol prices have reached all-time highs following an explosion and fire at a refinery in Texas.

The blaze at the BP plant in Texas saw the price of unleaded gasoline hit a record $1.1768 a gallon on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

$1.1768 (or about 67pence) for a GALLON ??

I know a US gallon is different from ours but even so.... :crybaby:

Isn't that the stock exchange price though? By the time it reaches the pump it will be a lot more expensive.

My cousin, who lives in the States, brought his wife over here for the first time last year. She complained bitterly about the price of petrol.

Then she found out her maths were wrong. She'd worked out litres to gallons correctly, but divided the resultant price by 1.6 to convert to dollars rather than multiplying it... ;)

She only found this out the day before they returned, otherwise he would not have been allowed into the pubs quite so often. :D
