57 Plate 220d start problem

Help! I have a 57 plate 220d which is a second car I bought out of necessity.

Had it since April and it has its niggles but nothing I couldn’t live with.

Hasnt given me any problems until recently.

First issue was entirely self inflicted but don’t know if this has LED to other issues, left the radio on while my daughter was at a ski lesson drained Battery and it wouldn’t start so had to get a recovery agent who used booster to get it going. Drove home the 35 miles and it was fine after that.

Went on holiday for a fortnight and it sat in the drive without use. Drove it Fri Sat after coming home and on reflection it seemed to turn a few more times when starting before it fired up.

On the Sunday we took it to a restaurant, was fine going but when we came out it would turn over but wouldn’t fire up.

I managed to drain the Battery and got it recovered to a local garage.

They charged the Battery, said there were 2 immobiliser fault codes which they cleared and it seemed to be fine.

It passed an MOT last week but it was at the garage for a week as I had tk leave it with them (similar to when we were away, lying dormant)

Was out in it yesterday and don’t know if was my sixth sense but I left it running with my teenager in it while I was in the shops as I thought it was just taking a little longer than normal to fire up…..that was until I was at the pump when I turned it off to fuel it and the damned thing wouldn’t start again.

I had to push it into Tesco car park where it is lying just now.

I’m going to phone garage tomorrow and find out exactly what they did but can anyone offer any suggestions as to what it might be and if there is anything I could do myself as someone who is not technically talented at all.

I have been scratching around on the internet and read something about taking out fuses to reset the ECU/Immobilser?

I had a look in the long fuse box, back right if you stood at the bonnet clip and took out a purple coloured one which I think might have been the ECU…didn’t work. It had a scuff on it as though someone has had a pair of pliers on it so I suspect it might be a problem I inherited with the car

Any hell would be most welcome:

Thanks

James
