I was wondering if anyone knew how to get the diagnostic codes out of a 95 LS400. A few days ago my Engine Malfunction Light came on solid and the Trac Off light started blinking. I tried finding the DTC Code using the DLC2 and DLC1 terminals and watching the TRAC OFF blink pattern but it didn’t correspond to anything in the chart. I’m afraid to even try driving it to the nearest dealer because it is running so badly, it sounds like there is a major engine miss. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You need to short the E1 and TE1 terminals on either the DLC1 or 2 connectors for it to display the error codes.

However OBD-II was implemented on the LS around 1995 so you may have OBD-II diagnostics. If that is the case you need to plug in an OBD-II reader to obtain the codes - the E1 and TE1 method will not work.
