I have a 'months' trial from Pitney Bowes - but I've had it for nearly 2 months, now, and they haven't asked for it back! When they do want paying for it, I understand I can 'negotiate' the monthly rental down to about a tenner a month. They do postage refills over the phone, too, so it saves you running out for stamps. Try their website http://www.pitneybowes.co.uk for a months trial (Nero is another one, but they want £20 per month rental minimum.
