sat nav screen / parking sensor weirdness

Recommended Posts

morning all

Ive recently had serious issues around the 'car wont see key' problem, it has been sorted now and ive put it in other threads.

in short the solution taken was to replace (by an auto electrician) modules all over the car and have a new (second hand paired to the kit) key.

when i got it back i immediately noticed what to me, was an improvement in the parking sensor system in so far as not just beepers and the little car icon in the clocks display, a 'from above' large skeletal drawing of an is220 took over the sat nav screen and each sensor inputted into it, giving a large, clear image of what was going on. Happy days.

downside of the repair was the boot would only open via the actual physical key which had to be removed from the fob, the remote button, the dashboard switch and the remote sensor didn't work. no big thing but a royal pain in the proverbial.

took it back to auto guy, who diagnosed a broken wire between the boot lid and car body (not related to the ignition thing), fixed it and returned the car on Tuesday.

yesterday (my fault, i was driving) i bumped into another car on a car park whilst reversing. my fault i accept that, this isnt about that.

when i got home i nearly drove into the wheelie bin while edging forward onto the driveway, sensors beeped, but no longer the 'aerial' image.

before the ignition key issue i never had that aerial image.

I've asked auto guy if he had updated any software and he said no (I've not mentioned the bump to him, (so he has no paranoia around that, of being blamed etc and I'M not trying to blame him, i'm just curious) .

however it is not there now, i've tried all manner of edging towards things in forward and reverse, both in gear, in neutral and cannot replicate the aerial view. I know i didn't dream it, is there a setting anywhere to restore? or is it, weirdly in a Lexus type style, a bye product of a faulty wire elsewhere (i.e the boot lid)

Any suggestions gratefully received.
