Vin number underneath drivers seat

Recommended Posts

Hi All

I need some assistance, we have a NX300H and all the chassis numbers match, however  the steel chassis number is actually able to be removed ( the steel piece of the chassis can lift out)  is this standard manufacture or would this indicate the vin number has been tampered with ?

It's a 2017 model

Thank you in advance

That doesn't sound correct. I've not got an NX to check but all my Lexus including my current UX, which is located under the seat, have a solid piece of non-removable metal where the VIN is stamped. The same VIN should be visible in the windscreen and a sticker on every panel (doors, bonnet etc.).

On our 2015 NX300h the VIN is stamped into the floorpan just under the front of the driver's seat and is certainly not removable. It is covered by a black plastic cover which has to be removed to get sight of the VIN.

If this is the VIN position you are refering to, as Colin says, it wouild not appear to be correct.

Thank you, all three vins match , windscreen, door jar and the floor pan underneath the drivers seat, however the stamped steel underneath the drivers seat , if the seat is removed the steel can be lifted out, it is machined as a perfect fit same colour no signs off cutting.

If the vehicle was produced in Japan (JTJ in vin number), would that affect this manufacturing aspect?

No, all Lexus vehicles destined for Europe are made in Japan and all have a VIN starting with JT (Japan, Toyota).
