Whilst looking for a possible solution to the Check Hybrid System problem that I just sorted, I noticed that I seem to be getting the beginnings of a small swimming pool in the rear seat well area, having looked a little closer, I think it may be running down both front seatbelts and accumulating in the dip ringh below where they are bolted to the lower sides of the car, looking above them, there is only the sunroof that would go right acrodd the car and be ablt to leak water onto both sides (a guess right now). I need to remove the driver and passenger door pillar trim to have a look at possible direction for tyhe water to get in and travel, I want to try to avoid removing the roof lining if I can at this point.

Does anyone have asny advice on how the trim comes off and possibly the clip positions? anyone done this to find a leak before? any other advice would be appreciated.

Cheers, Rob

I would check the sunroof drains first.  They could be blocked.  Hi can usually clear them with a length of flexible net curtain rail, the copied spring type.  They come out under the car into short rubber valves which often get covered in mud.  Once they are cleared you can check they are OK by pouring some water carefully into the tray with the sunroof open and checking underneath that it runs out of the front and rear drains.

Another problem I had was that one of the tsar drains kinked where it ran into the rear tray under the boot tray.  I fixed this by replacing the last 10cm or so with a length of copper pipe and it's been fine ever since.  I did a post on this with photos ages ago but can't re bed when to include a li k to it.

Getting at the sunroof mechanism is a night mare as you have to strip out a lot of the internal linings before you remove the roof lining.  It's a big job.

I had both your problems in my rx400h.  In my car, the swimming pool in the rear footwells was the overflow from the hidden swimming pool under the boot floor.   When all the floods were dry, the check hybrid problem went away.  I concluded that something electronic under the boot floor didn't like being wet.
