Anyone know why my fuel gauge would have a mind of its own.

When driving the gauge doesn't move. When ignition is switched off and on again I get the correct reading i.e. it has dropped down the gauge.

When it is filled to the top it reads correctly, when ignition is switched off the needle seems to settle somewhere different every time. As far as I can remember it used to drop to the bottom when ignition was off.

Don't know whats going on ......

BTW does the low fuel warning light get its reading from the gauge or is it a separate system ?

I had the same problem when I put fuel in the needle wouldn't move for about 2 days I managed to get it done under warranty, they replaced the ECU behind the speedo but this also reset the millage. The bill would have come to £950+vat :o
