Did the Motorway thing for the first time in the new RX 300SE-L and with the cruise control on averaged 31.7 to 32 mpg at a steady 70 mph.

On the return journey got 24 mpg at average of 80 mph without cruise on, admitted there were 2 drivers one for each way.

Just goes to show the benefit of steady 70mph, just wondered what 60 mph would have given me.

The car has just done its first 1000 miles approx

Did the roadtrip thing to France when we first got it.

Varied the speed between 55 - 70 mph so as to run in the engine with variable rpm and load.

Most of this was done using cruise control on the motorways.

Car gave a figure of 30.2 mpg after the end of a full tank. Pretty impresive I thought.

Only manages about 21 - 23 round town though.
