Performance Figures

Hi there Wondered if anyone might be able to help me out.

Thinking of buying an IS 200 and have been looking at the performance figures for the car Quoted in "Parkers Guide"...I believe that it quotes 0-60 times of 9.5 secs. This seems a little slow to me and wondered if anyone could fill me in with REAL times that they may have achieved.

Also are the Performance Figures the same for all models S. SE & Sport?

My old 16v cavalier was meant to be about 9.5 secs too but the lexus is definitely a bit faster. Perhaps the figures were wrong for the vauxhall though! Remember the IS200 is a bit heavy - thanks to the solid build and old iron block engine. That will slow it a bit.

The S is lighter than the Sport and SE so should be marginally quicker in a straight line but I guess the better grip from the wider wheels on the SE and Sport plus limited slip on the Sport should make them quicker in real motoring. What does anyone else think?

I think 9.5 secs is about right, "feels" a little slower overall than my previous Vectra 2.0 SRi, but is actually quicker at the top end.

It's a peaky motor, so 0-60 is a little slow, but once it "gets up on the cam" it's pretty quick.

The engine suffers from a lack of grunt, but if you slip the clutch and work the gearbox you can make surprisingly rapid progress.
