Larger Wheels For The Sc430

I love my SC430 but can't get used to the stock wheels. I would like to replace them with some new 19" (or even 20"!) alloys with suitable low profile tyres. However I was told that if I did this would screw up the SatNav system, the speedo and the odometer. Is this true, and if so is there any way to recalibrate them?

Thanks for your help

there is one member who has 20'' on his SC (I think his 'name' is aquanuke?), it's all to do with rolling radius or something like that. There was a post about it somewhere and a calculator to work out how much your speedo would be out.

would have thought the sat nav system would be accurate though?

apparently this link has a calculator to figure it out, goodluck

This is the Maximum recommended wheel size according to Toyota Motorsport

...as the largest that can be fitted without any issues

front 8.5 (x 19) with a maximum offset of +39

Rear 10 (x 19) with a maximum offset of + 45

these sizes will NOT affect the OEM satnav function

ASFAIK it has no effect on the sat nav. I think sat nav works purely on satellite information form the sky. ie the satellites monitor the car not its wheels.

I dont have any probs , but then I dont use my sat nav much anyway. But it would sound stoopid if wheel size made any difference.. ie think about portable sat nav systems that you can carry from car to car on even use on foot.

If you use lower profile tyres then your speedo wont be out by much. I'd go with 20" as it does look nice. Anyway you will knock up less mileage when you come to resell it

I doubt it would make a huge amount of difference, but when the satnav can't get a satellite lock it uses the road speed to update your position. It would do this if you were in a tunnel for example. From memory, there is a feature somewhere to tell the satnav when you have new tyres. Perhaps using this would help if you end up with a larger rolling radius.
