 Hi guys, don't know if U have been keeping up to speed with the US site with regard to the new RX400h, If so U like me may be wondering just what they doing!. The main feed back theme is ECONOMY yes in the states!. All or nearly all new owners are driving not for pleasure but trying to match economy figures stated by Lexus US.

They have concluded that a warm-up period of some 10 mins is required ( as with any engine combination) before better mileage is attained, and they are ALTERING there driving styles to accomodate the cars characteristics!!!

IMHO this must be rather defeating the object of the car, to drive normally and enjoy the odd blast with much improved economy is what I would EXPECT.

What say U?

this is very strange...

if economy was their main aim, why did they not buy a Prius rather than a large, heavy SUV?

I doubt it was the main goal, BUT as with Prius, in RX400h you might feel as you should be striving to get the best MPG you can get.

As to the driver adjusting to the car, we always do that - dont we? If I drove an diesel like I drive an petrol car, there would be no gas savings and my diesel engine would fry from constant 4.5k rpm limiter bounce :-).

People have been pretty happy with mpg they got with RX, and thats before engine got worked in... you can only imagine how happy they will be after 3 months...

 In the UK U would not need to "bounce the rev limiter" in a diesel to recieve a licence removing experience, The diesels over here GO very well. Fuel however is in excess of wait for it "£4.00 a gallon", how would that go down in the US of A?
